About the business unit

The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.


Overview of role
Due to continued growth in demand, we are expanding our industry leading Advanced Nuclear Technology team. If you are interested in the world of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) and solving first of a kind challenges, then this is your invitation to join the discussion.

We are currently looking for a diverse set of candidates to meet these challenge at all levels and across multiple disciplines. Successful candidates will join our Power, Process and Nuclear division to work on the Generic Design Assessment (GDA) of a SMR project.

As a team, we will provide multi-disciplinary integrated engineering and project management services from inception to completion of the GDA process of a SMR. Following completion of GDA, we will continue supporting across the project lifecycle – from concept to construction and operations. Together with our partners, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition in the UK with some of the most exciting First-of-a-Kind technology.

About the roles

We are currently looking for diverse candidates in:

Mechanical / Structural Integrity - Subject Matter Expert
Safety Case Engineers - all levels
Electrical Engineers – all levels
C&I Engineers - all levels
Hazards and Fault Study Engineers – all level

Candidate Specification
We are interested to hear from candidates who have good understanding and demonstrable track record of nuclear new build regulatory process in the UK; client facing experience is desirable but not essential. We are also looking for candidates with good knowledge and experience of nuclear safety cases, including understanding of internal and external hazards, justification of engineering standards, design substantiations/justifications. It is also desirable for candidate to understand the similarities and differences of US and UK nuclear regulatory process.

We are looking for positions at all levels from early career professionals to principal engineer. Candidates should be prepared to play an active role in a project-driven and highly integrated engineering team.

For team lead roles, we are also expecting the candidate to be:

  • able to defend design positions for areas where the existing regulatory framework either does not apply, or for which there is a need for the development of new or revised regulatory requirements or guidance.
  • Prepare and deliver licensing presentations to internal and external organisations.
  • Support team development

For subject matter expert role

  • we are expecting the candidate to be industry-recognised reputation as the subject matter experts in the field and demonstrable experience of regulatory interface.
