About the role:

You will be part of the Energy Unit supporting Energy Networks – High Voltage Transmission & Distribution projects across the UK and Ireland. As an experienced technician within the project delivery team your primary focus will be to undertake 2D and 3D modelling, drawing, and detailing, maintain high technical standards and help to guide and develop junior staff. You will collaborate and work with colleagues on projects, internal and client, fostering a knowledge sharing environment.

Responsibilities include but not exhaustive of:

  • Assist in the delivery of projects ranging from planning to construction stage.
  • Produce high quality 2D/ 3D models and drawings.
  • Incorporate and interrogate survey data.
  • Maintain model/ drawing references to latest project information.
  • Ensure model coordination is maintained to spatial coordinate systems.
  • Work within common data environments in accordance with Execution Plans and Information Delivery Plans.
  • Liaison with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate issue resolution.


About you:

  • The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and level of experience:
  • Experience of the civil and structural engineering or electrical discipline within Energy sector.
  • Knowledge of information management systems (IMS) e.g. SharePoint, Autodesk BIM360 and ProjectWise.
  • Demonstrable understanding of applying information standards.
  • Experience of project collaboration with other design teams.
  • Enthusiasm to learn new skills and embrace new technologies and software.
  • Able to effectively manage workload in a busy and dynamic environment.
  • Strong interest in 3D design, modelling and creating immersive models.
  • Willing to take ownership of issues and work autonomously to find solutions.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Technical competency in one or both software packages:

AUTODESK CIVIL 3D

  • Good proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Experience of preparing volumetric earthworks models and associated schedules.
  • Experience of preparing alignments, corridors, and associated assemblies.
  • Experience of preparing pipe networks and drainage features
  • Balancing of cut and fill volumes, volume calculations and stage storage analysis.
  • Production of related plan and longitudinal sectional drawings.
  • Production of standard details.

The following skills will be an advantage:

  • Supplementary experience in Autodesk toolsets e.g. Navisworks, Recap, Construction Cloud
  • Familiarity with working to industry modelling standards.
  • Experience of utilising survey and utility data.
  • Knowledge of project delivery using ISO 19650 processes.
  • SharePoint project site administration and setup.
  • Experience of Autodesk BIM360 project administration.
  • EngTech TMICE or similar
