The Health & Safety Coordinator & Technical Support is responsible for ensuring a safe, compliant, and well-maintained operating environment across Merlin Entertainments Netherlands attractions.

This dual role combines hands-on technical support with proactive health & safety coordination, supporting day-to-day operations, statutory compliance, and continuous improvement of safety and technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety Coordination

  • Act as the primary point of contact for Health & Safety matters at site level
  • Ensure compliance with Dutch health & safety legislation, Merlin H&S standards, and group policies
  • Review risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work
  • Lead accident, incident, and near-miss investigations and ensure timely reporting and follow-up actions
  • Coordinate fire safety, emergency procedures, drills, and evacuation plans
  • Support audits, inspections, and internal/external H&S reviews
  • Maintain H&S documentation, logs, and records
  • Deliver or coordinate health & safety training and toolbox talks for staff
  • Promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement mindset across teams

Technical Support & Facilities

  • Provide first-line technical support for attractions, rides, exhibits, and building systems
  • Assist with routine maintenance, inspections, and fault-finding of technical equipment
  • Support contractors and suppliers during maintenance, repairs, and installations
  • Ensure technical works are carried out safely and in line with H&S requirements
  • Help plan and execute preventative maintenance schedules
  • Respond to technical issues during operations to minimise downtime
  • Support asset management, compliance checks, and statutory testing
  • Assist with opening/closing procedures and operational readiness

Kwalificaties en ervaring

Key Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Experience in Health & Safety coordination, preferably in leisure, attractions, hospitality, or facilities
  • Technical or maintenance background (electrical, mechanical, facilities, or similar), preferably in hospitality and leisure branches.
  • Strong knowledge of Dutch H&S legislation and practical application
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and incident investigations
  • Hands-on, practical problem-solving mindset
  • Strong communication skills in Dutch and English
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment

Desirable

  • Relevant H&S qualification (e.g. MVK, HVK, or equivalent)
  • Technical qualification or certification
  • Experience working with rides, attractions, or public venues
  • Knowledge of Merlin Entertainments standards and procedures
