Job Description

What you'll bring to the team

Ride Operator

Location: The London Dungeon & Shrek’s Adventure! London

Contract Type: Seasonal

Step into the heart of two of London’s most iconic attractions! As a Ride Operator, you will be the friendly face welcoming guests, bringing magical and immersive experiences to life, and ensuring every visit is safe, smooth, and unforgettable. From the Magic Lift and Magic Bus at Shrek’s Adventure! to the thrilling DROP DEAD Drop Ride at The London Dungeon, no two days are the same. If you love engaging with people, thrive in fast‑paced environments, and enjoy creating memorable moments, this could be the perfect role for you!

In this role, you will provide a warm and friendly welcome to all guests, helping with directions, information, and any queries they may have. You will be responsible for operating ride systems safely and in full accordance with all training, Standard Operating Procedures, and safety guidelines. Throughout the guest journey, you will engage visitors in an enthusiastic, informative, and professional manner to ensure their experience is enjoyable and memorable.

You will also monitor and manage guest flow and queues, ensuring smooth movement and keeping waiting times to a minimum. Maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of all guest‑facing areas will be an important part of your day, along with promptly reporting any safety concerns, incidents, or guest feedback to the Ride Supervisor. The role involves supporting ride and fire evacuations when required, always following emergency procedures correctly. You’ll take part in daily briefings and ongoing training to stay informed and prepared, while actively contributing to a positive, inclusive, and energetic atmosphere for both guests and colleagues.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Guest Service Excellence: Friendly, approachable, and committed to delivering outstanding guest experiences.
  • Safety Awareness: Understands and follows safety protocols with diligence.
  • Communication: Confident in engaging with guests and team members.
  • Teamwork: Works well with others, supports colleagues, and contributes to a positive team environment.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
  • Attention to Detail: Observant and thorough in following procedures and monitoring ride operations.
  • Problem Solving: Able to think on your feet and respond calmly to guest concerns or operational issues.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience in a guest-facing or operational role (e.g., theme park, attraction, hospitality).
  • Familiarity with ride operations or safety procedures (desirable but not essential).
  • Knowledge of Merlin Entertainments’ CORE values (preferred).

Benefits

  • 40% discount off LEGO® sets and products on the online LEGO Store!
  • Merlin Magic Pass: 20 free tickets for you, your family and friends to enjoy all of our Merlin Attractions across the world!
  • 25% discount in Merlin retail shops and restaurants (a brilliant extra treat when you’re using your Magic Pass to visit!)
  • Staff discount codes for Merlin Annual Passes to gift to loved ones!
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Ongoing training & development
