Job Description
The Sea Ceptor Weapon Systems team is expanding and seeks a System Engineer to work in this dynamic and challenging environment.
Pivotal to these roles is enabling the delivery of Sea Ceptor to multiple customers concurrently, whilst managing adaptations to enhance the Sea Ceptor System.
Salary: Circa £57,000 depending on experience
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3 days per week on-site due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.
Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:
Sea Ceptor is a very successful, growing, innovative, high profile maritime air defence system that has secured multiple UK and export contracts.
A Systems Engineering position is available supporting the sustainment and development of the Sea Ceptor Weapon System. This includes coordinating/conducting detailed technical studies, assessments and work packages associated with future Sea Ceptor development/evolution, as well as leading resolution of technical issues and managing system architecture definition. The successful candidate would also be expected to support the wider team involved in Trials data analysis, Combat System Integration, verification, safety, security and performance activities.
The successful candidate would be responsible for:
- Future Sea Ceptor development and evolution - conduct technical studies and assessments to drive future design evolution
- Combat Systems Integration - supporting resolution of technical queries across Sea Ceptor domestic and export programmes;
- Trade Studies generation - Understanding the impact of design evolution to maintain Sea Ceptor effectiveness
- In-service support – technical resolution of issues as they arise;
- Reviewing and analysing technical data in order to understand and document findings;
- Investigating defects, through analysis of data and understanding the system design in order to seek resolution;
- Export New Business – Technical input across a broad range of System architecture topics;
- Support to Non-compliance management & impact assessment
- Trials Support - Both on site at MBDA and at off-site locations.
- Technical resolution of internal sub-system queries through IQR forum
- Technical input to assist identifying and defining requirements for internal sub-systems and external interfaces
- Task Package management;
What we're looking for from you:
- Established/Proven experience of working within the Systems Engineering lifecycle including; Requirement elicitation, Identifying and managing key design drivers, Verification processes;
- Experience of systems integration and system interface definition, including definition of and/or working with Interface Control definition documents;
- Experience in defining and/or developing System Architecture;
- An effective team player with good interpersonal and influencing skills, essential to working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and in building cohesion in the relationships between the Systems team and various interfacing teams.
- Experience of using RTC & DOORS is desirable;
- Ability to work proactively and balance a number of concurrent tasks
