Join MBDA as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer in Bolton for this full-time, hybrid role (2-3 days per week on-site). Requirements
Formal technical Engineering/Craft Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3 and Level 4 (HNC) or equivalent in a relevant subject, OR a Degree in a relevant subject.
Essential: Manufacturing Engineering experience, proactive problem-solving approach, ability to interpret Design Drawings to produce Manufacturing Build Instructions, teamwork skills, and awareness of digital communication platforms.
Desirable: New Product Introduction (NPI) experience in a Manufacturing Engineering position.
Mandatory: British Citizen only, with the ability to pass HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS).
Skills & Responsibilities
Problem-solving skills: Drive a proactive approach to identifying and managing manufacturing risks using PFMEA and lessons learnt.
Design interpretation: Interpret Design Drawings to produce accurate Manufacturing Build Instructions and coordinate Design for Manufacture / Test (DFM/DFT) sessions.
Stakeholder collaboration: Develop relationships across design, procurement, project management, and production teams to successfully handover qualified manufacturing systems.
Industrialisation expertise: Support industrialisation activities, manage configuration control, and drive the progression of the Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL).
Potential transition routes: People from Mechanical Engineer, Production Engineer, or Quality Engineer roles may bring relevant technical and shop-floor manufacturing skills, alongside meeting the required engineering qualifications and British citizenship criteria.

The opportunity:
An opportunity has arisen within the New Programmes team, for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer who would work alongside Design and the New Business team throughout the New Product Introduction (NPI) process to identify manufacturing requirements in the support of new bids, be responsible for the development of the manufacturing system through the industrialisation gateways and handover of the qualified manufacturing system to the production teams.
As a New Programmes Senior Manufacturing Engineer you will:
Support industrialisation activities to create a robust manufacturing system.
Support the compilation of Manufacturing Engineering bid packs to feed into the formal bid proposal.
Provide manufacturing input in to early design by coordinating Design for Manufacture / Test (DFM/DFT) sessions.
Identify and manage manufacturing risks through interrogation of lessons learnt and effective use of PFMEA.
Develop relationships with project stakeholders (design, procurement, project management, technical experts, quality, planning & control, production teams)
Liaise with the Tx community to implement new manufacturing processes and technology into future bids.
Management of configuration control by the embodiment of design modifications into the manufacturing documentation
Ensure products are produced with consideration to safety, efficiency and economic factors
Drive the progression of the Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) to meet product milestones.
Work with Tooling design to develop the necessary tooling, jigs and fixturing to facilitate the progression of the manufacturing process.
Plan, deliver and monitor assigned tasks ensuring requirements are delivered to plan.
What we're looking for from you:
Formal technical Engineering/Craft Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3 and formal further education certificate to Level 4 (HNC) or equivalent in a relevant subject

Degree in a relevant subject.
Essential:
Manufacturing Engineering experience
Must demonstrate a proactive approach to problem solving and commitment to work to meet our delivery milestones.
Have the ability to interpret Design Drawings with a view to producing Manufacturing Build Instructions.
Must be able to work within and contribute to a team environment.
Awareness of digital communication platforms to work and communicate effectively within the workplace
Frequent travel to Stevenage to support development builds.
Desirable:
