Job Description

MBDA is looking to recruit an experienced and professional Project Manager, with an engineering background ideally in Structural or Electrical Engineering, to join its CSS Export Infrastructure Projects Team.

The role will be prioritised to support UK-led Export Construction Projects, but will also provide support to different MBDA National Company projects as required by workload demand

Salary: Up to £65,000 Depending on experience

Location: Bolton (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: We endeavour to offer a Hybrid working pattern.

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

You will be involved in all design and construction activities from requirements capture and Infrastructure Programme development, to appointment and management of consultants who will lead design activities, to oversight of construction and handover / acceptance phases.

  • Leading of, or participation in, the collection of customer requirements and in establishing necessary in-country laws, regulations and standards which will govern design.
  • Translate the requirements and applicable in-country codes and standards and harmonise those requirements with the technical and end-user requirements needed to develop proposals for storage, maintenance and operations of munitions and associated systems.
  • Managing and delivering the Projects to Time, Cost and Quality (TCQ) targets.
  • Organising Projects and establishing the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Organisational Breakdown Structure (OBS), proposing infrastructure solutions and associated services, authorising major decisions, validating design and site integration as well as managing risks and opportunities.
  • Possess the courage to speak-up and challenge, where applicable, projects which may be off-track or at risk in order to ensure maximum customer satisfaction is achieved in all endeavours.
  • Continually apply best-practice working and demonstrate safe working practices to ensure that MBDA maintains its duty of care towards all employees.
  • Participate to the technical validation at gates between projects phases (design, construction, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain the team repository of projects, good practices and harmonized methods.
  • Be a source of expert advice and technical excellence for any infrastructure topic within the company.
  • Develop opportunities for the team in participating actively to commercial campaigns.
  • Contribution and involvement in establishing contracts.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Willing ness to travel – Role will require the successful candidate to travel globally on a frequent basis
  • The ideal candidate will come from a design engineering background, with knowledge of one of the following discipline areas; Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering
  • Engineering Degree Qualification or higher in relevant Engineering or Construction is highly desirable
  • Experience and good knowledge of construction contract management
  • Experience and knowledge of leading project through RIBA Plan of Works stages
  • Successfully develop enduring relationships with the Customer Community. Galvanising that relationship by demonstrating an ability to accurately capture and develop customer requirements into functional and compliant buildings.
  • Able to translate to accurately harmonise requirements between UK Regulations, In-Country Regulations and Technical Requirements.
  • Organise Projects and establishing optimal WBS and OBS
  • Propose infrastructure solutions and associated services, authorising major decisions, validating design and site integration as well as managing risks and opportunities.
  • Apply best-practice working and demonstrate safe working practices to ensure that MBDA maintains its duty of care towards all employees.
  • Participate to the technical validation at gates between projects phases (design, construction, etc.).
  • Ability to exploit opportunities for the team in participating actively to commercial campaigns.
  • Ability to effectively communicate within MBDA and with multinational customers
  • Ability to present sometimes complex proposals in a simple and effective way to senior internal collaborators and / or Customer Organisations in order to gain their approvals.
  • Someone that can lead multi-functional project teams on new projects, inclusive of management of external consultants and main contractors, in order to meet programme, cost and quality requirements.
  • Ability to adapt to changing and diverse workload with autonomy and resilience
  • Demonstrate a positive, proactive and professional approach, even when under pressure.
