Job Description:

As part of the RGM (Rapid Growth Market) Regulatory Affairs Team, the RGM Innovation & Portfolio Compliance Manager creates and sustains a competitive advantage for Royal Canin and supports the achievement of its overall business goals by bringing regulatory compliance inputs into products development and also orchestrating change management activities resulted from regulatory compliance programs. He/She will also support regional and local RA associates liaising with multiple global and regional internal stakeholders, proactively providing internal recommendations and drive project management activities within RA aiming to protect our freedom to operate and innovate.


What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Accountable for providing strategic guidance to relevant internal partners on existing and new regulations and emerging regulatory threats/opportunities of interest to the Company.
  • Works with internal partners to understand priorities and impacts of developing legislation and aligns appropriate internal positions.
  • Leads the development and execution of RA strategy to manage critical ingredients, turning regulatory insights into foresight to anticipate issues and increase business preparedness.
  • Coordinates regulatory change management activities so that the potential impact to the Company is addressed and communicated with relevant stakeholders to minimize business impact.
  • Work with relevant technical teams (e.g. R&D, Commercial, Manufacturing, QFS, Corporate Affairs) to provide necessary Regulatory Affairs support and guidance.
  • Provides key regulatory inputs into Innovation such as on claims, labeling, ingredients compliance. As an active member of Innovation project teams, he/she actively co-creates regulatory compliant content.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to understand priorities, and identify regulatory approvals and adjustments to be considered to continue to enable the freedom to operate and innovate agenda.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge on key developments in feed law and policy via active participation in Trade Associations, horizon scanning, regulatory and scientific conference attendance, and participation in multiple internal discussions & activities
  • Leads the regional management of key technical scientific issues for Royal Canin, being strongly connected with global RA teams, and corporate team, ensuring that issues, trends, risks and opportunities are appropriately communicated to relevant R&D function and leaders, to help guide the business.
  • Develops and maintains strong scientific networks, and works with other Mars segments to establish science policy and influence scientific opinions, external scientific environment and key opinion leaders that benefit and further the company’s innovation and growth strategies on a global scale.


What are you looking for?

  • Veterinary or Master's degree in a technical area, such as nutrition, food/feed science, biology, chemistry. Additional training in RA and Project Management
  • 7+ years experience in scientific and/or regulatory compliance with food/feed products and/or related product categories (such as food supplements, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals) with proficiency in ingredient management on a global scale.
  • Experience in Pet food category is preferred.
  • Experience working on large-scale regulatory projects involving formulas, ingredients, claims and labeling; a demonstrated track record of working successfully across functions to achieve shared goals; and proven ability to interact cross-functionally at all levels within the organization are required.
