The Technical Trainer will have a strong passion for ensuring associates have the training necessary to perform in their roles proficiently. The primary purpose of this role is to develop and coordinate training activities for new, apprentice, and existing technical associates and assist in the development of other team members as needed. This role will also support the MSE Education Pillar and other MSE Pillars as required.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a training database for the technical team. Support implementation of the new training system (POKA) and act as a site administrator for the technical team.
- Develop and deliver training to Technical team members, operations, trainers, and coaches. Continuous self-development is essential.
- Develop and manage a robust Apprenticeship program to ensure a secure and successful Technician pipeline
- Develop and deliver onboarding process for new Technicians with site/area specific learning and demonstrated capabilities
- Plan, coordinate, and schedule training and qualification activities that add value to the business and adhere to regulatory requirements in alignment with production and maintenance schedules. This training may be done internally, through manufacturers or vendors, through local education providers, or other means.
- Maintain and manage documentation, including all training records for the technical team, the maintenance library, and the technical team’s SharePoint.
- Support the Autonomous Maintenance pillar by providing training or coordinating activities between technical and operations groups as needed.
- Manage training KPIs for the technical team, such as training hours per technician.
- Manage Quarterly Training Plans while providing gap assessments and mitigation plans to Site Senior Leadership
- Purchase and control training materials, tools, displays, and programs in adherence to the training budget.
Education & Professional Qualification
- A 2-year degree or experience equivalent in mechanical and electrical field.
- The successful candidate should have 3+ years of experience within a manufacturing environment, i.e., factory operations, maintenance, procurement or technical
- The preferred qualification would be three-plus years of maintenance technician experience (mechanical, electrical, and predictive)
Knowledge/Experience
- Computer Skills including MS Office suite, PowerPoint skills are especially necessary, training software such as POKA, and databases.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) such as SAP
- OSHA Trainer certifications are a plus
- Arc Flash certification and ability to instruct on ARC Flash
- Working knowledge of the plant, the main production processes, and the layout of building and grounds
- Ability to manage multiple jobs/tasks while maintaining priority and focus
- Excellent oral and written communications skills--demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate to all levels of the plant
