You are a Tax Manager in the Compliance & Reporting function within the Global Tax Organization supporting all business segments of Mars Incorporated. As a leader within Global Tax Compliance & Reporting, you, together with your team are responsible for the entire tax reporting cycle, including global tax provision, federal compliance, & state compliance. You lead the team in transforming tax process and translating knowledge into actionable insights. As part of the U.S. In-Country Tax & Treasury Center (US ICTC), you and your team will also serve as key advisors to all U.S. business units, delivering effective and practical tax guidance.
What are we looking for?
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate tax; Federal and state U.S. income tax compliance and financial statement accounting
Large corporate multinational tax environment experience
Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to execute initiatives from beginning to completion
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in data analytic systems (Alteryx, Power Query, Power BI) preferred
What will your key responsibilities be?
1. Tax Accounting and Reporting
Monitor changes in tax laws and accounting standards; assess impact on the company
Lead the preparation and review of quarterly and annual income tax provisions (ASC 740), including current and deferred tax calculations
Manage US GAAP income tax provisions and FIN 48 positions for domestic corporation, domestic and foreign partnerships, foreign corporations and disregarded entities
Review and validate effective tax rate (ETR) and balance sheet (payable, deferred tax) calculations
Coordinate with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits
2. Tax Compliance
Manage the preparation, review, and filing of federal, state, and local income and franchise tax returns
Oversee the tax compliance calendar to ensure all deadlines are met
Coordinate with external tax advisors and service providers as needed
Review and validate supporting workpapers and documentation for tax filings
3. Additional Responsibilities
Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of tax support processes and proactively recommend improvements to enhance efficiency within the tax department
Be skilled in relationship building, nurturing team member strengths and identifying areas for improvement
Ability to influence stakeholders; represent and advocate for team needs
Provide tax advice and support to business units on various tax matters including Federal and State concerns, W-9 requests, local exemption forms

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.
The pay range shown is applicable to all US locations listed within the job posting:USD 134,400.00 - USD 184,800.00
