As a Supplier Quality Assurance Specialist at Mars you will assure compliance to our supplier
management and risk assessment standards/plans. You will lead supplier audits, while acting as the subject matter expert regarding the ingredient or material for which you are leading. Your goal will be to mitigate any recall risk and assure that we are delivery the best quality products possible to our customers.
This role will support the Mars Retail SQA program by executing factory audits and assessments in China against Mars PrQM, PQM and EMQM Validation and Approval standards. The primary focus of this position is to audit factories that produce non-food merchandise using pre-set metrics and questions. This role will assess a supplier’s general capability to meet Mars standards of supply, validate a supplier’s capabilities, investigate & resolve non-conformances, develop the suppliers’ capabilities, and align the supplier with the Mars QMP.
What will be your key responsibilities?
• You will provide expertise in the processing of materials and products.
Lead several aspects of the supplier relationship, including data compliance, quality audits,
and hazard controls.
•Partnering with our internal buyers to ensure all material specifications are reviewed,
understood, and agreed to by the suppliers.
• Conduct audits in Chinese language
• Report audit findings in English & Chinese
• Develop supplier’s capabilities
• Manage non-conformance & follow-up
• Communicate effectively with sourcing, buying, and marketing teams
What are we looking for?
• Ability to travel 50-70% of the time.
• At least 3 years of commercial/supplier quality experience or quality/auditing roles.
• At least 2 year experience interacting in factory settings.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes (plastics, ceramics, textiles, metals, paper, etc).
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Capacity to build relationships internally & externall
• Ability to efficiently manage multiple initiatives and timelines
• Minimum of a bachelors degree.
• Lead Auditor Training (ISO 9001 or equivalent)
