Central Innovation Formulator Sr Scientist (Global team)

Job Purpose / Overview:

Centra Innovation Formulator is responsible to formulate recipes for Global Innovation and S&T Projects (TRL, DS2 and DS3 projects) according to required product design principles in compliance with Safety & Nutritional Guidelines, assuring that they will be sustainable and feasible for the business and in line with project management requirements.

This role is accountable for delivering a robust formulation framework for each innovation, based on product design principles delivered by the Innovation team. The recipe framework will be reviewed with every relevant regional formulation team to assess products deployment challenges at early stages.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for delivering recipes for global Innovation and S&T (Science and Technology) Pillars, in compliance with Safe for Design principles (nutrition, food safety) and aligned with climate requirements (carbon footprint)
  • Responsible for raising risks considering all information provided by local market and region, including SRA, commercial and supply needs.
  • Responsible for providing feedback to product design principles to achieve Sustainability or Value Leadership Projects.
  • Challenge design principles if their achievement doesn’t allow a sustainable formulation considering future potential evolutions of materials (ex : enough space between raw materials to optimize while respecting ingredients list order, non-approval to formulate with one cereal only if this led to a higher mycotoxin risk …) . The same applies when a product design principle may affect Product Performance.
  • Delivers recipe framework based on product design principles provided by innovation teams. Evaluate recipe framework transferability in relevant markets to assess early enough potential deployment blocking points to anticipate.
  • For New Ingredient projects, this associate is responsible to keep the Formulation Framework updated regarding inclusion principles
  • Responsible for designing premixes if required in global Innovation Projects.
  • Provides specific inputs to MRA (Material Risk Assessment) process based on new raw materials risks, impact inclusion level of or cumulative risks from other materials.
  • Deploy products/portfolios according to global mandates/brands frameworks.

Context and Scope:

This role interacts with global roles such as Formulation CI Scientist, Formulation Leaders and Formulation Senior Scientist and regional roles such as PPIs, Site R&D Heads, SRA, Optimization & Lead Formulators, Product Developers, Commercial and Marketing stake holders. Whenever there is a global innovation or Science project this role is the main contact to address project requirements working closely with Innovation and S&T global teams.

Central Innovation Formulator allows to deliver innovation project on time while covering specific criteria related to supply, commercial and raw material & finished product trends shared by the region and always working hand to hand with regional PD and Innovation Formulator.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Food Engineer, Chemical Engineer, Industrial Engineer).
  • Advanced English required.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Food Manufacturing factories, preferably in Quality and/or R&D.
  • Product Design/Formulation/Optimization experience.
  • Green/Black Belt Six Sigma
  • PD/Innovation experience or managing MKT as a stakeholder
