Senior Shift Production Manager
Location: Slough, UK (on-site full-time, shift pattern 2 days/2 nights/4 off)
Salary: £53,000 - £66,000 (depending on the experience), annual bonus, benefits, shift allowance 30%, pension contribution up to 9% by employer
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Shift Production Manager to lead and develop a team of up to 40 multi-skilled operational associates. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) across Safety, Quality, Performance, and People. You will also spearhead improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with Mars Supply Excellence standards.
What are we looking for?
Technical degree or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline is highly desirable.
Strong experience of line management is required, preferable in a manufacturing environment, ideally in FMCG or food production
Several consistent years of the Operations/Manufacturing Excellence expertise
Strong communicator with a demonstrated ability to relate to all people at all levels, from a variety of backgrounds and to confront difficult and challenging situations as required.
Preffered: TPM experience
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering engagement and recognition.

- Champion improvement projects that enhance operational efficiency and product quality.
- Utilize and refine standard work systems to empower team members in executing and maintaining high standards.
- Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, addressing challenges and promoting a culture of high performance.
- Leading an operations shift team within a Value Stream to deliver priority KPIs including Safety and Quality & Food Safety through effective prioritisation, escalation and decision-making.
- This role is also an acting “Emergency Manager”, this role encompasses overall responsibility of the site and is a point of escalation.
- Providing line management for a team of operations associates; allocating work, managing crewing levels and driving flexible working, conducting training, and ensuring that all attendance, performance and disciplinary matters are dealt with in accordance with company procedures
- Building a high-performing team through developing associates individually and within the team. Driving the engagement of associates through coaching and impact planning. Developing associates through effective PDP management to ensure functional, team and personal development.
- Develops and leads factory-wide business communication, working with management and support functions to deliver effective messaging and feedback.
- Provide clear communication to the team on initiatives within the Value Stream, as well as wider factory and business debriefs.
- Collaborating within the Value Stream team to lead and partner in Continuous Improvement and OPEX projects, driving improvements in efficiency and other line KPIs.
- Role model the FMOS process, leading JTMs and root cause analyses and coaching associates through the FMOS process.
- To work closely with the VSM and value-stream peers to ensure the team has required capability, competence and attitude to succeed in delivering VS objectives; including taking part in internal and external recruitment processes.
