Job Description

Job Description:

Location: Paddington, London or Slough, Berkshire

Salary: £83,000- £103,000 + Benefits

The Corporate Affairs (CA) team of Mars Global Services (MGS) is committed to creating an inclusive work environment and values diversity in all forms. The CA team leads the communications and engagement activities for the shared services group within Mars, Incorporated, including the MGS Finance group.

With over 400 Associates and ~900 business partner organizations worldwide, the MGS Finance group has a diverse range of responsibilities that require simplification and standardization, as well as the use of technology to drive transformation and change.

Business-to-Business Communications

As the communications lead for MGS Finance, the Associate in this role will work closely with MGS Finance leaders to communicate the capabilities and contributions of the MGS Finance team to segment and functional leaders across Mars. This will include forming clear communication strategies on the transformation underway within MGS Finance to drive recognition and support of MGS Finance. The role requires an excellent understanding of how to market services within a business as well as the ability to measure the impact and results of communications activities.

Communications Strategy

The Associate in this role will lead the development of the storyline and narrative for MGS Finance via an omnichannel communications strategy that takes into account various stakeholders both internally and externally. This leader plays a critical role to develop communications that galvanize support for the future of MGS Finance globally across many levels of audiences including Associates, leaders, suppliers, and partners. Key messaging, communications calendars, and metrics will support all strategies.

Associate Communications

The Associate in this role will also work with the Global VP of MGS Finance to develop and execute communications that drive the engagement of Finance Associates. Initially, this may focus on the need to unite the MGS Finance team and forge a group identity, leveraging recent efforts to name and brand the service line, while forwarding the MGS vision for all Associates to act in a collaborative manner that supports the notion they are “one MGS”.

Change Communications Planning & Implementation

A critical responsibility will be to partner with the change management leads of key Finance deployments impacting various Associates, drive the development of their communications strategies, and, where possible, support roll-out of those initiatives. Deployments known to need support in the coming year include a new global model for delivering financial information, a working capital analytics pilot, and automation initiatives.

For large change communication programs, external agencies may be retained to support the communications needs of the project, and the person in this role must have the ability to review agencies, craft and manage budgets, measure work, and otherwise command agency resources.

Agency Management

The Corporate Affairs team has several relationships with agencies that provide targeted support on an as-needed basis to MGS and its business lines. The Associate in this role will need to know when to engage these resources on behalf of the MGS Finance teams, thinking critically about the quality delivered and ensuring that the agencies selected have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Writing, Editing & Messaging

The Associate in this role will be responsible for a range of written documents required of MGS Finance throughout the year including, but not limited to, stories for the Mars intranet equivalent; presentations to business partners in the segments and functions of Mars; annual reports on operating plans; letters or emails to MFS Associates. An ability to work with MGS Finance leaders to craft core messages and then transfer those messages into critical communication vehicles (e.g., talking points, ppt presentations, word documents, letters, etc.) is therefore essential.

What will be your key responsibilities?

The MGS Corporate Affairs team currently seeks a Senior Manager to drive communications activities exclusively for the Finance service line. MGS Finance is on a significant growth and transformation trajectory, so engaging Associates and stakeholders throughout the journey requires communications to be of utmost importance.

The person in this role will be a valued member of the Finance leadership team and an essential business partner with Finance senior leaders. The senior manager for communications will work closely with the VP of Finance as a thought leader, project manager, and strategic communicator capable of executing the following responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with the VP of MGS Finance to co-create the vision and purpose and develop an annual communications strategy and messaging for various stakeholder groups, both internally and externally.
  • Leading the day-to-day communications for Finance, which includes (but is not limited to):
  • Developing the Finance strategy deck and storyline
  • Designing the framework for global townhall communications to Finance Associates worldwide
  • Providing updates on high-priority projects, such as initiatives to support broader Finance transformations within Mars
  • Leading and evaluating stakeholder mapping and communication strategy required as part of the overall critical change management programs in MGS Finance – ensuring the right messaging and determining the right resource to drive communications.
  • As an active member of the MGS Corporate Affairs team, this Associate will regularly partner with team members across all MGS service lines on MGS-wide communications activities and collaborate with Finance Associates across the globe to ensure inclusive and comprehensive communications.
