Job Description:

This role is responsible for Quality & Food Safety (Q&FS) at site level and ensures that all products leaving the site are safe, legal and in line with expectations. The job holder leads the Site Q&FS team and ensures a trustful, transparent, collaborative way of working with all relevant functions. This Associate is responsible for implementing and sustaining the Mars Quality Management Process, Standards and Systems. The Q&FS Manager is a member of the site management team and represents Q&FS in all site-related matters.

This Associate will:

  • Put the first principle of quality into action at the site through the team, all associates and third parties.

  • Work closely with plant manager, factory management team and the quality leadership team.

  • Interact with other Mars sites to share best practices and gain knowledge.

  • Have the authority to take any measure to protect consumers including recommending to stopping production runs, put stocks on hold and make recommendations on out of specification products.

  • Cascade global Q&FS policies, procedures and best practices to the team and ensure adherence to those practices.

  • Develop local policies and procedures in absence of global ones.

What are we looking for?

  • A degree in a science or engineering discipline, ideally Food Technology/Science, Chemistry or Biology

  • 5+ years’ experience in quality and food safety management systems implementation, preferably in FMCG

  • Auditing experience is essential with Lead Auditor qualification being ideal

  • Knowledge of and experience of global Quality Management Systems

  • The ability to lead others is essential; proven line management expertise is required

  • The ability to train others in quality and food safety related topics is essential

What will your key responsibilities be?

  • Solid understanding of Quality, Food Safety Standards, Thermal Processing science and manufacturing knowledge

  • A capable leader of teams and individuals and able to motivate and engage superiors, peers, direct and indirect associates

  • Basic understanding of Food Safety – microbiology/ chemical and physical risks knowledge

  • Knowledge of HACCP and prerequisite controls

  • Knowledge of food allergens, cleaning and sanitation, chemical food safety and food safety regulations

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and influencing skills as well as ability to understand business strategies and translate them into R&D programs

  • High degree of ownership for his/her work, a big sense of urgency and an action-biased, positive attitude

  • Good critical thinking, able to operate independently

  • Be a change agent
