Title: Production Scheduler

Required Shift:

Day Shift

8am – 5:30pm

Monday – Friday

Job Purpose:

The Production Scheduler is responsible for sequencing or scheduling the production plan after Execution Planner hands off ownership for next 4 weeks horizon. This role owns and is responsible for maintaining the schedule within the Frozen zone as well as work with Execution Planner and Operations on optimizing schedules to maximize lines’ efficiency.

What are we looking for?

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent lifting/carrying pushing (10-50 lbs) and pushing/pulling (50-300 lbs)
  • Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, handling, and gripping.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights, climb stairs, leaning over equipment and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to stand and/or work on feet for extended periods (minimum eight hours in one shift).
  • Ability to understand, communicate, read, and write basic work-related English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • Working knowledge of JDA Sequencing and SAP
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills are necessary, as well as the ability to negotiate, persuade, and analyze.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with peers, Production Leaders, and other site leaders

What will be your Key Responsibilities?

  • Sequence production schedules that optimize planning adherence and customer service while balancing line efficiency, labor and site costs
  • Responsible for area planning rates, provides guidance to Value Stream Managers on future rates
  • Directs Production Leaders to support Production Schedule based on material and machine availability
  • Proactively identifies any planning system failures and potential supply issues. Communicates to appropriate Stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Develop and revise schedules to comply with manufacturing constraints and guidelines. Schedules should optimize customer service while also taking into consideration line efficiencies, staffing and materials
  • Participate in weekly MPS (Master Production Scheduling) and CSP meetings with Demand Planning, Commercial Procurement, and Site Leadership. Provides input into changes in rates, line availability, quality holds, etc. and represents the site on answering to any misses
  • Issue and communicate special instructions to Value Stream Managers, Production Leads, Production Coordinators and CI Engineers regarding priorities for run order and pack mix as well as changes in production schedules
  • Directs Inbound Schedulers on product demand to ensure material availability and collaborates on material shortages. Communicates with Demand Planning on any plant impacts.
  • Coordinate and communicate necessary production schedule changes across the site to ensure most efficient scheduling of line trials, downtime for repairs, installations, and changeovers
  • Monitor differences between the committed schedules and the actual production (Schedule Adherence). Prepare weekly production reports for schedule adherence and document reasons for these differences. Ensure corrective actions for misses are evaluated and implemented
  • Responsible for item setup, maintenance, comments, and priorities in Production Summary
  • Prepare special production studies, evaluations, and analyses, as directed by the Value Stream Manager for the purposes of strategy planning and other analytical studies.
  • Understand and modify structure of Sequencing and SAP to ensure the schedules satisfy all constraints and guidelines
  • Responsible for communicating schedule changes to Execution Planner, Inbound Scheduler and Value Stream Manager in order to maintain the proper level of RAWS, PACKS, WIP and FG inventory for items they schedule
  • Lead the Weekly Scheduling meeting with Inbound Schedulers and Production Leaders to ensure we have the right materials and staffing to make planned schedules
  • Responsible for planning co-pack and donor items produced at the Site, industrial products, chocolate schedules and co-manufacturing materials, where applicable
  • Drive process enhancements, either through new systems, additional functionality, or procedure changes that will increase business effectiveness
  • Provides after-hour support and direction for 24-7 plant on schedule issues
