We have exciting opportunities for both recent graduate and experienced packaging developers/engineers to join our Slough hub site as an associate Packaging Development Engineer. The purpose of this role is to develop and deploy packaging initiatives that support core brand growth, efficiency, and innovation for Ice Cream Mars Wrigley.
At Mars, we recognise that hybrid working unlocks productivity and performance for our Associates and our business. For this role, we expect that the successful candidate will need to travel into our Slough hub site at least weekly.
What are we looking for?
- A degree in science or equivalent technical area e.g. Packaging, Engineering or Design or experience within a similar role.
- Experience of working on packaging projects would be beneficial.
- Ability to work effectively in cross functional teams and with external suppliers.
- An understanding of manufacturing/production machinery or processes would be helpful.
- French speaking is desirable, but not essential.

What will be your key responsibilities?
- Develop pack structures for new product and formats (flexibles and paper), adapt pack to ensure that all packs run efficiently and meet required semi-finished and finished product specifications, quality standards and efficiency targets.
- Utilise best practice packaging experience to deploy validated packaging formats across the network with minimal disruption to operations and minimal expense costs to the business.
- Initiate and support line trials at appropriate supply locations to confirm that quality attributes and performance metrics are achieved.
- Coordinate creation of high-quality prototypes to gauge consumer desirability, influence teams and support customer collaboration.

Salary from £35,000 plus annual bonus and excellent benefits
