Here’s the scoop - Summary

As a Layout Specialist within the Market Strategy & Deployment Team, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing the in-store presentation and shelf layout of our pet food portfolio.

Your expertise will help ensure our products are strategically positioned to maximize visibility, drive shopper engagement, and support category growth.

You will collaborate closely with the Senior Category Manager, sales teams, and retail partners to develop and execute effective layout strategies that align with our market objectives.

This role is based in our Flatirons Office in Louisville, CO and works a hybrid schedule with 3 days in-person.

Key Responsibilities:

Layout Design & Optimization

  • Develop, refine, and implement planograms and shelf layouts for pet food products across multiple retail formats (Independent Specialty Pet, Chain Pet, Farm & Feed, etc).

  • Analyze shopper behavior, sales data, and market trends to inform layout decisions and optimize product placement.

  • Ensure layouts support category strategies, brand priorities, and promotional initiatives.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with the Senior Category Manager to align layout strategies with overall category and market objectives.

  • Partner with sales teams, retail partners, and merchandising agencies to execute layouts and gather feedback from the field.

  • Liaise with marketing, insights, and supply chain teams to ensure layouts are feasible, compliant, and aligned with brand guidelines.

Execution & Deployment

  • Create detailed planogram documentation and guidelines for internal teams and external partners.

  • Support the rollout of new layouts, including training materials and in-store execution checklists.

  • Monitor and audit in-store implementation to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.

Analytics & Continuous Improvement

  • Track and report on the performance of layout changes using sales data, shopper insights, and retail audits.

  • Recommend adjustments based on performance analysis and evolving market dynamics.

  • Stay current with industry best practices and emerging trends in retail layout and visual merchandising.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Merchandising, Design, or related field preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience in planogramming, retail merchandising, or layout design, ideally within FMCG or pet food categories.

  • Proficiency with planogram software (e.g., JDA, Nielsen Spaceman, Apollo, Scorpion) and strong analytical skills.

  • Understanding of shopper behavior, category management, and retail operations.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and external partners.

  • Detail-oriented, creative, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between the range listed above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, if eligible, including variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Eligibility for these additional elements depend on the position offered and the employee’s work schedule (i.e., part-time schedule, store associate). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.
