International Benefits Analyst

Location: Slough + 50% Hybrid Working

You will manage and administer the bespoke retirement, death, and disability benefits for globally mobile Mars Associates to ensure they understand what benefits they will receive; to facilitate the calculation and payment of those benefits from the various countries in which they were earned (usually) a different country in which the associates might choose to retire. You will evaluate details to provide accurate, timely information to determine the overall benefit provision and ensure the correct benefit is recorded and paid. You will reach out to benefit plans operated by Mars globally to support People & Organisation (P&O), Rewards, Service & Finance (S&F), and our international benefit plan members globally. This role is highly complex due to the number of variations available. The role provides exposure to senior stakeholders within Mars and the opportunity to partner with the business on all aspects of the international benefit plans. You will report to the International Benefits Manager.

What are we looking for?

  • An understanding of pensions and related benefits (ideally final salary pensions) would be preferred.
  • Experience working with numbers and an actuarial would be beneficial.
  • A strong communicator (both written & verbal) with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with peers.
  • A skilled and methodical organizer, capable of working efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a curious mindset and willingness to identify and address potential issues.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel, including updating and creating new files. Experience with Microsoft Teams and interest in other digital tools, demonstrating a digital mindset.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Maintaining the individual benefits commitments (with a key focus on defined benefit and cash balance pensions) for over 200 of Mars Inc’s most senior associates who each have unique arrangements reflecting their career path across multiple countries.
  • Coordination and/or production of the calculation of benefits and technical support for the delivery of international benefits.
  • Managing ad-hoc projects as required, driven by the need to respond to administrative, legislative changes, and governance requirements.
  • Both maintaining and enhancing the profile of the International Benefits Team as a centre of excellence and expertise.
  • Managing relationships with actuarial, legal, financial, and other advisors as well as in-house teams such as other benefit teams, rewards, payroll, global mobility, and tax, globally across Mars.
  • Identifying areas where our processes can be improved and made more efficient, often with the use of technology.
  • Communicating with members via written materials (emails, benefit statements, estimates, briefing presentations, leaver communications, and benefits payments) plus providing support and information via Teams.
