Job Description:
The Sanitation Technician is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of the production areas and lines. This role involves maintaining control over the microbial environment, performing preventive maintenance on sanitation equipment, and supporting the site's quality and food safety standards.
What are we looking for?
Minimum Requirements:
- 2–3 years of experience in sanitation or cleaning
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience with safety, environmental, or quality training, and food safety
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent lifting/carrying (10-50 lbs.) and frequent pushing/pulling (50-200 lbs.)
- Frequent handling/gripping/bending/stooping
- Ability to work at elevated heights off a ladder or platform, climb stairs, and lean over equipment
- Ability to stand and/or work on feet for extended periods
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to support production needs
- Ability to read, write, and understand English
- Able to handle hot and cold temperature environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform cleaning as per the Master Cleaning and Shutdown/Start-up Cleaning Schedules
- Maintain control over the microbial environment in the plant through detailed cleaning of equipment and surfaces, sanitation of high-risk areas, and management of the environmental sampling program
- Perform preventive maintenance on all sanitation equipment
- Provide early detection of equipment degradation or malfunction throughout the plant
- Maintain grounds and perimeter of the plant along with roof and roof-mounted equipment
- Communicate any quality and food safety concerns to the site
- Communicate equipment and facilities defects to maintenance departments
Other Responsibilities:
- Follow all Quality and Food Safety Policies and applicable procedures
- Coordinate supplies, equipment, and contractor support for plant sanitation and pest control
- Assist with clean-up operations as needed
- Help create new or improve existing processes for cleaning and sanitation
- Assist in training Technicians on proper cleaning and sanitation procedures
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned
