Mars Petcare- Education & Training Reliability Technician- Columbus, OH

  • Pay: Based on experience between $40.55- $47.30/hour
  • This site manufactures Petfood: Pedigree, Cesar, Nutro, Iams & Sheba

Shift Schedule:

Shift: 1st shift

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Hours: 7am – 3:30pm

(Flexible pending business needs)

Description of Role:

This role drives alignment of the manufacturing education and training initiatives by using loss and skills gap analyses to prioritize resources and actions. They partner with site manufacturing leadership to assess and improve associate performance through structured validation methods including identifying, developing, and delivering technical training to ensure full compliance with Safety, Quality, GMP, and LOTO requirements.

What are we looking for?

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • 2+ years’ experience in manufacturing role
  • Basic understanding of electrical
  • Previous experience in developing and/or delivering training materials
  • Previous experience in a multi-craft role or field (EX: electrical, mechanical, fabricating, pneumatics, etc.)
  • Proficient in MS Office and email

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical degree or certifications
  • Comfortable delivering group training sessions and facilitating group meetings
  • Experience with digital technology to enhance/produce training programs including video editing
  • Software experience (i.e., Poka, etc.)
  • Comfortable using hand power tools and shop machining equipment

Physical Requirements:

  • Can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying (10-50 lbs) and pushing/pulling (50-300 lbs)
  • Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, handling, and gripping.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights, climb stairs, lean over equipment, and operate in confined spaces.
  • Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods, with shifts lasting 12 hours
  • Capable of working in hot, cold and wet conditions
  • Proficient in understanding, communicating, reading, and writing in English.

What will be your key responsibilities?

Factory Capability Framework:

  • Facilitate the role profiling methodology to build clear inventories of responsibilities and required skills and knowledge to identify gaps and then use to build training course and curriculum.
  • Facilitate the Factory Skills Gap Assessment Process to develop a prioritized annual plan for training activity.

Knowledge Capture:

  • Ensure appropriate knowledge management methodologies are applied to maintain, share and update recorded knowledge within the site’s information structure.
  • Facilitate the Training design and development methodology with support from the Subject Matter Experts (Maintenance, i.e., Operations, Safety, QF&S, etc.).
  • Training & Coaching on all E&T processes, systems, and tools.

Knowledge Transfer

  • Establish the On the Job Trainers at the site. Facilitate the Administration of Training processes which include proper storage of OPLs, Standard Work, Role Profiles, Skills Matrices, and Step-up Cards. Also includes updating and monitoring site training calendar and updating training courses.
  • Provide leadership, objectives, feedback, and performance coaching to all associates involved in site education and training programs, especially on the job trainers and expert trainers.
  • Provide technical related training when needed and on-board new maintenance associates. Accountable for integrity and deployment consistency & accuracy of site course and appropriate validation tools to confirm Associate capability.

Additional Training Responsibilities

  • Identify the necessary resources to provide training.
  • Utilize Training Center if available.
  • Coordinate with CVS to update training manuals, SWI and SOPs based on equipment upgrades and/or other change management processes and integrate into the annual training plan.
