The Area Sales Manager (Quebec) is responsible for leading the execution of the Retail Plan for an area, including both distribution, sales, and merchandising at retail & regional account level.
Responsible for people development, coaching and performance management, this role will ensure compliance and delivery of coverage allocation and plans to meet and or exceed retail objectives at point of sale.
*Candidates should reside within the territory, preferably in or near Montreal or Quebec City, to facilitate regular travel and customer visits across the region*
What are we looking for?
- Professional degree or diploma in Business, Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of full-time sales experience, including experience working with and influencing cross-functional teams.
- Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry experience is considered an asset.
- Previous people leadership or team management experience is preferred.
- Account management experience is considered an asset.
- Bilingualism in both English and French (spoken and written) is required.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 70% of the time within Quebec, including spending 2–3 days per week in the field supporting team performance and key business objectives.
- Strong proficiency with retail and business technology tools, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams).
- Experience with data analysis and reporting tools such as Power BI and Nielsen is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze business performance, identify opportunities, and drive results through data-driven decision-making.
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Lead execution of sales strategies to achieve or exceed individual and team sales targets and KPI’s for the district.
- Monitor performance against KPI’s and implement correct action and support to drive continuous improvement.
- Recruit, train, coach, and manage a team of field sales associates (5-8).
- Set clear objectives, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide ongoing feedback.
- Develop talent and support succession plans to build a high-performing sales team (PDP process).
- Support engagement through development and execution of team impact plans.
- Ensure consistent execution and compliance for planograms, marketing programs, and retail display initiatives across all accounts.
- Conduct regular field visits to audit execution and support team members – both for internal & external.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with retail partners, and regional accounts to best support team with execution of programs, negotiations, and planning.
- Plan, execute, and evaluate in trade promotions and activations to drive continual improvement.
- Support team to resolve escalated customer or account issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Manage trade promotion, overheads, and T&E budget to plan
- Monitor compliance, recommend change(s) with customer call coverage modelling to ensure team is driving maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure cross functional collaboration and share retail insights with Sales, Customer Excellence, Marketing, and Brand teams
- Ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, and retail compliance requirements.
