Job Description:

Area Reliability Technicians (ARTs) are responsible for troubleshooting various basic-level competencies such as pneumatic, hydraulic, AC/DC electrical systems, automation & instrumentation, and mechanical systems on all process and packaging equipment with minimal guidance. Working as part of a team, they maintain and repair equipment in a fast-paced, high-production environment, prioritizing multiple mechanical/electrical tasks and administrative duties.

ARTs ensure all planned maintenance work is completed or handed over to the next shift as required. They also play a significant role in supporting the rollout of Manufacturing Systems Excellence (MSE) within their assigned area, providing technical training to operators. This role involves flexible hours Monday to Friday / Weekends and includes supporting, AMLs, maintenance shutdowns and operational improvement opportunities. ARTs report directly to the Reliability Manager. Work in capacity in case of an absence from the Areas AML as needed. This position requires a proactive individual capable of working independently and as part of a team, with strong technical skills and a commitment to safety and operational excellence in a manufacturing environment.

Shift:

  • Monday-Friday
  • Overtime, Weekends and On-Call will be required as needed based on business demands.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Safety: Practice and promote site-wide safety awareness.
  • Workload Management: Assist in completing team workload as needed.
  • CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) Utilization: Ensure accurate data entry in the CMMS to track equipment utilization.
  • Work Coordination: Coordinate and prioritize daily workload assignments.
  • Issue Management: Record and communicate major equipment issues promptly.
  • Escalation: Ensure timely escalation of issues and temporary repairs.
  • Team Support: Provide positive motivation and engage with the team effectively.
  • Feedback: Offer feedback to cross-functional teams and the reliability department on work completion and status.
  • Inventory Management: Ensure storeroom processes are followed for accurate inventory.
  • Abnormality Handling: Identify phases of abnormality and prepare action plans accordingly.

Key Critical Competencies

ARTs are crucial in handling day-to-day abnormalities and repairs within their designated area, while also delivering autonomous maintenance coaching and training to operators.

They are integral in documenting equipment improvements, implementing preventive maintenance strategies, and addressing breakdowns efficiently during maintenance shutdowns.

Critical Learning Experiences

  • Basic problem solving and mechanical / electrical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Willingness to develop required technical skills.

  • Capable of successfully training people regularly.
  • Basic written and oral communication skills.
  • Functional in Microsoft office and CMMS software.
  • Basic technical skills maintaining assets and machine components for an area of responsibility.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying (10 - 50 lbs.)
  • Frequent pushing/pulling (50 - 200 lbs.)
  • Frequent handling/gripping/bending/stooping.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Formal technical training or 3+ years of experience as maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing setting.
