Job Purpose/Overview

Every day Mars Incorporated takes thousands of decisions that are informed by laboratory data that verify our supply chain and ensure consumer and brand protection. The Regional Laboratory Manager is accountable for the delivery of accurate and timely chemical and physical testing data to our customers across the supply chain through driving the quality and service performance of our network of third party laboratory providers and manufacturing site based laboratories across APAC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for developing our external partner laboratory network in line with the outsourcing/Insourcing strategy, to maximise quality, service, and cost performance within the region.

  • Accountable for the ensuring quality and technical governance of all external and Mars onsite laboratories through the Mars Laboratory Audit program.

  • Accountable to ensure the continuity of laboratory services (internal and external) to support both routine and escalated testing volumes.

  • Responsible for driving Associates engagement and professional development of direct reports (4 FTE) and for extended team (circa 7 FTE).

Job Specifications/Qualifications

Education & Professional Qualifications

  • Minimum BSc and ideally MSc degree level in science (Chemistry or Food Science)

  • Background in Technology (R&D, Supply, Commercial), ideally in Q&FS

Knowledge/Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, minimum with at least 5 years management position within laboratory, R&D or Quality area

  • Competence in Quality Management systems (including ISO17025) and Health & Safety Management

  • Proven experience in leadership, motivation and building effective teams

  • Experience in financial budget management

  • Good communication skills, both written and spoken English
