Purpose of the Role
The role is responsible for managing end-to-end pricing and quotation activities for Special Cargo (SPC), including Out of Gauge (OOG), In Gauge (IG), and Break Bulk (BBK) shipments. The role ensures timely and accurate quote generation, coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to obtain operational and pricing approvals, identifies process improvement opportunities, and delivers an exceptional customer experience while driving quoting efficiency and operational excellence.
You will be Responsible for:
Creating short-term (ST) and long-term (LT) quotations for OOG, IG, and BBK shipments based on customer requirements and business guidelines.
Coordinating with terminals to obtain operational approvals, additional handling charges, and cargo-specific requirements for special cargo shipments.
Collaborating with Pricing Managers to secure optimal commercial rates and ensure timely turnaround of customer quotations.
Managing customer requests related to pricing, contracts, booking amendments, and rate revisions while serving as the primary point of contact throughout the quotation lifecycle.
Identifying operational risks, cargo handling requirements, and booking constraints, while ensuring effective communication with customers and relevant stakeholders.
Ensuring the accuracy of pricing, commercial approvals, and operational validations prior to releasing customer quotations.
Delivering timely responses to customer requests by meeting defined turnaround times (TAT) and maintaining high-quality quoting standards.
Monitoring quoting performance and customer requirements to enhance operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and service delivery.
Identifying customer-specific improvement opportunities, including end-to-end process enhancements, automation, and auto-quoting initiatives.
Driving continuous improvement initiatives by developing innovative solutions that improve quotation accuracy, efficiency, visibility, and overall customer experience.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related discipline.
2–5 years of experience in Ocean Freight, Shipping, Logistics, Pricing, Commercial Operations, Customer Service, or Supply Chain Management.
Experience in handling Special Cargo, including Out of Gauge (OOG), In Gauge (IG), Break Bulk (BBK), or project cargo operations is preferred.
Strong understanding of ocean freight pricing, quotation management, booking processes, cargo handling requirements, and commercial operations.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with Customers, Pricing, Terminals, Operations, and Commercial teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify operational risks, evaluate pricing scenarios, and recommend process improvements.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and enterprise logistics or ERP platforms, with the ability to analyse data and generate meaningful operational insights.
High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently meeting turnaround time (TAT) and quality expectations.
Customer-focused mindset with a continuous improvement approach, demonstrating the ability to drive automation, standardisation, and operational excellence across the quoting process.
