Job Description

Maersk is a global leader in integrated logistics and have been industry pioneers for over a century. Through innovation and transformation we are redefining the boundaries of possibility, continuously setting new standards for efficiency, sustainability, and excellence.

At Maersk, we believe in the power of diversity, collaboration, and continuous learning and we work hard to ensure that the people in our organisation reflect and understand the customers we exist to serve.

With over 100,000 employees across 130 countries, we work together to shape the future of global trade and logistics.

Join us as we harness cutting-edge technologies and unlock opportunities on a global scale. Together, let's sail towards a brighter, more sustainable future with Maersk.

Shape the Future of Shipping

Based at our headquarters in the heart of Copenhagen, we’re building the blueprint for carbon‑neutral shipping—and we’re looking for your expertise to help make it happen.

As our next Senior Naval Architect, you’ll play a key role in supporting Maersk’s global fleet of 300+ container vessels. You’ll contribute directly to our decarbonisation journey and help set future standards for efficient, compliant, and innovative vessel design.

About the Role

You’ll join Fleet Technology, working alongside highly skilled engineers across multiple disciplines in a truly global environment. Your scope will span the full vessel lifecycle—from concept design and major conversions to innovation initiatives and vessel recycling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuously improve the design and performance of Maersk’s container vessel fleet

  • Lead and deliver engineering projects on time, within scope, and to high technical standards

  • Provide sound technical input and engineering recommendations to support decision‑making

  • Contribute to both long‑term strategic initiatives and fast‑paced technical projects

  • Collaborate closely with engineers, site offices, shipyards, and external partners

  • Promote a proactive culture with flat team structures and shared ownership

What We’re Looking For

We expect our next team member to bring:

  • A degree in Naval Architecture and minimum 5 years of relevant experience in ship design, maritime research, or a closely related fiel

  • Exposure to container vessel design, including areas such as statutory compliance, structural design, or stability

  • A solid technical foundation, with experience contributing to engineering projects from concept through execution

  • A collaborative, proactive mindset and interest in working within a global, cross‑functional organisation

  • The ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken English

It’s an advantage if you also have:

  • Experience or familiarity with container lashing systems

  • Exposure to classification societies or maritime regulatory environments

  • Experience supporting, mentoring, or coordinating the work of other engineers

Why Join Maersk

At Maersk, you’ll find more than a role—you’ll join a global team addressing one of the most complex challenges in modern shipping. You’ll work on meaningful technical problems, see the real‑world impact of your work, and have the opportunity to grow your career in an inclusive, forward‑looking organisation.
