About the Role
The Senior Manager – Transport plays a pivotal leadership role in overseeing end-to-end transport operations, including container haulage and domestic distribution. This role is accountable for operational performance, service excellence, and financial outcomes, while driving continuous improvement and digital innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage transport operational budgets, ensure effective cost control, and deliver profitability in line with financial targets.
Drive operational efficiency through effective vehicle scheduling, route planning, and resource optimization in collaboration with operations teams.
Monitor, analyze, and report operational KPIs to enhance productivity, service levels, cost efficiency, and overall team performance.
Manage and respond to RFQs/RFPs, including pricing strategy and coordination with internal stakeholders to support business development.
Negotiate transportation rates and manage strategic relationships with transport vendors, contractors, and service providers.
Identify and pursue new transport business opportunities in partnership with account management and commercial teams to support growth.
Ensure optimal manpower allocation and resource planning to meet evolving operational and customer requirements.
Lead operational transformation and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance scalability, service performance, and efficiency.
Drive digitalization through effective use of TMS, data analytics, and operational technologies.
Oversee incident and accident management, including investigation, reporting, and implementation of corrective and preventive measures.
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with workplace safety, regulatory, and operational requirements.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping, operational discipline, and service quality across all transport activities.
Who We’re Looking For
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in logistics, transportation, or 3PL operations, with at least 5 years in a people leadership role.
Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
Strong operational knowledge of container haulage, local distribution, and Singapore PSA port operations and processes.
Solid experience in transport planning and fleet management systems.
Experience in cross-border transport operations between Singapore and Malaysia is an added advantage.
Proven leadership capability with the ability to lead and develop teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and with external partners.
Established industry network within the transport and logistics sector, including contractors and service providers, is advantageous.
Self-driven, resilient, and able to perform effectively under pressure and within demanding operational timelines.
