We Offer
Exciting opportunity to be at the heart of the Maersk Contract Logistics' (MCL) growth journey in one of the fastest growing regions of Maersk.
This role will be the head finance business partner to the Region VP - Head of MCL for the APA Region supporting Maersk’s expansively growing Warehousing, Cold Storage, Middle Mile, E-Commerce and E-Fulfilment portfolio in Asia Pacific. Current revenue of ~$1.3b.
Together with Regional and Global management, the role will be pivotal in shaping and driving the MCL strategy including asset planning and performance management and control for ensuring sustainable EBIT growth.
This role is facilitating profitable new business growth through ensuring the appropriate level of financial and commercial due diligence is performed on assessing capital expenditures and facility leases and the commercial requirements in customer contracts.
Key Responsibilities
MCL Strategy Execution Support and Performance Management
Play an active role with the Region VP – Head of MCL in driving the overall MCL strategy development and execution planning, collaborating with the Global Strategy team and Global Product managers.
Lead business initiatives to improve Product performance.
Investigate underperforming MCL business units and develop solutions with Product and Area/Country management.
Drive P&L performance management of the MCL Product.
Drive asset management including optimizing net working capital and fixed asset utilization to improve ROCE.
Indirectly manage the team of Area/Country MCL business partners supporting each Product.
Partner with Controlling team to lower/eliminate monthly unbilled sales order (UBSO) to customers and improve the cash conversion cycle.
Managing MCL investment and new contract approval process
Maintain the standard for the assessment of investments and new contracts that conform to Maersk’s MCL Business Rules.
Governance to ensure investment proposals have been developed and approved by relevant internal stakeholders such as Solution Design, Product, Tax, HR, etc.
Review cost modelling, pricing and transaction structuring. Discuss with Region VP – Head of MCL and make recommendations to Region Head of Finance and Global Managing Director of MCL on requests for approval.
Engage with the Commercial Team to ensure new customer contracts are aligned with Maersk’s MCL business rules and protect the key assumptions (volume, liability, pricing, termination provisions etc) to ensure the expected return on the related investment. Improve the sales cycle for transactions through direct involvement with the Commercial Team to identify and provide solutions to commercial challenges.
Lead the weekly Region Investment Committee meeting to approve proposals with the APA leadership in accordance with the DOA and represent APA to Corporate (CEN).
Post Implementation Performance Monitoring in Areas/Countries for large transactions.
Align with global stakeholders on improving the global MCL investment and new contract approval process.
Planning and Analysis
Manage the Region budget, forecast and quarterly/monthly management reporting for the MCL Business in collaboration with Region FP&A team.
Manage the regional Investment Pipeline and estimate capex and lease requirements for the region during Budgets and Forecast and QBRs.
Establish a link between new business pipeline wins and churn and bridge quarterly revenue and EBIT.
Active sparring parter to the Regional VP – Head of MCL, Regional Head of Finance and Global Managing Director of MCL.
Manage and track the Procurement savings target embedded into the country budget and forecast together with Region Procurement FBP.
Community Building, Training and Development
Lead, support and develop team of ~7 direct reports plus ~10 Business Partners in Areas/Countries (indirect reports) to strengthen community and facilitate overall skill development.
Prepare training materials and conduct training classes to educate the organization (incl BD) on Business Rules, DOA, etc.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a pro-active finance professional with solid financial and commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills
Minimum 15 years of relevant finance experience, including senior roles in multinational logistics organisations (Group/Regional HQ exposure preferred).
Proven track record leading large teams (10+ people).
Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration; professional certifications (CPA, ACCA, CA, CIMA) preferred; Big 4 background is an advantage.
Strong ability to assess complex financial and commercial transactions, identify risks, and recommend solutions.
Solid understanding of corporate finance principles and investment analysis.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to articulate issues clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
Able to build strong relationships across all organisational levels, including senior leadership.
Demonstrated influence beyond formal responsibilities; confident, customer-oriented, and impact-driven.
Capable of constructively challenging senior stakeholders while maintaining strong collaboration.
High proficiency in English; strong ethics, integrity, and commitment to acting in the company’s best interests.
