Purpose
This position is responsible for monitoring and analyzing operational performance metrics to ensure efficient and effective container terminal operations. It involves conducting data analysis, identifying operational bottlenecks, and providing actionable insights to enhance overall performance and productivity.
What does a typical day on the job look like?
A typical day for a Performance Analyst involves monitoring real-time operational data, analyzing KPIs like crane productivity, identifying inefficiencies in yard and vessel operations. The day starts with reviewing overnight performance and attending shift handover meetings, followed by investigating delays, supporting operations with live insights, and conducting root cause analyses for underperformance. The Performance Analyst also spend time building or refining dashboards, forecasting congestion, and preparing reports engineering teams to drive continuous improvement.
Principal Accountabilities
- Monitor the performance using dashboards and Power BI, ensure they run efficiently and meet user needs.
- Customize dashboards to meet specific user or departmental requirements, providing tailored solutions that enhance decision-making processes.
- Develop and implement automation scripts to reduce manual data processing and increase efficiency.
- Integrate Power BI with other business systems and tools to streamline data flow and improve reporting capabilities.
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of dashboards and datasets to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Collaborate with different business units to understand their needs and provide customized reporting solutions.
- Perform trend analysis and forecasting to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Apply advanced analytical techniques such as machine learning and statistical analysis to uncover deeper insights.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with port authority to ensure their reporting needs are met.
- Provide regular updates and reports to finance department on dashboard performance and enhancements.
- Function as the main point of contact with other shipping lines for billing-related issues.
- Compilation of reports for stakeholders, encompassing both internal and external audiences.
Who we are looking for
- Masters/engineering degree in Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Proven experience in performance analysis, data interpretation, and process optimization within the container terminal or logistics industry.
- Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and software such as Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Possess effective analytical, numeracy, reporting and problem-solving skills.
