Maersk Training US is seeking an experienced drilling professional to join our team. This is a permanent, in-office position, using our advanced drilling simulators at our established facility near Houston airport (IAH).

Key Responsibilities

As an Oil & Gas Instructor with Maersk Training Houston, you will:

  • Operate and maintain our DS6000 and X1 drilling simulators to deliver realistic, scenario-based well control training

  • Deliver Well Control courses following IADC curriculum standards and assessment protocols

  • Develop, test, and refine well control scenarios and exercises that replicate real-world drilling challenges

  • Support the commercial team with technical expertise during customer engagements and course development discussions

  • Participate in continuous improvement of course content, delivery methods, and training effectiveness

  • Maintain professional relationships with customers, students, and industry stakeholders

  • Keep your IADC WellSharp instructor credentials current and compliant

  • Collaborate with our Louisiana training team and global Maersk Training network to share best practices

We are looking for

Required qualifications:

  • Documented drilling experience as a driller, toolpusher, or drilling supervisor with minimum 5 years field experience in offshore drilling operations

  • Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) experience or certification

  • Strong understanding of kick detection, well control methods, and blowout prevention

  • Located in or willing to relocate to the Houston, Texas area

  • Authorized to work in the United States

  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Willingness to obtain IADC Well Sharp Instructor certification (we will support you through this process if not already certified)

Preferred experience:

  • Hands-on experience with drilling simulators (DS6000, X1, or similar platforms) either as operator, or instructor

  • Experience developing or running simulator scenarios for training purposes

  • Current IADC WellSharp Instructor certification (Driller and/or Supervisor level)

  • Completed IADC Facilitator Certification

  • High Pressure, High Temperature (HPHT) well control background

  • Deepwater Gulf of Mexico drilling operations experience

  • Prior experience teaching or training others (formal or informal)

  • Experience with curriculum development or training program design

  • Technical degree (Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field)

  • Strong communication and presentation skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly

  • Structured work approach with attention to procedures and quality standards
