Job Description

APM Terminals

At APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, we enable global trade and drive sustainable growth. What drives us forward is a mindset of always improving — observing how work happens, identifying what creates value, and removing what gets in the way. We constantly look for smarter, simpler, and safer ways of operating. If you thrive in environments where people value learning and are committed to continuously improve daily operations, join us and be apart of our journey.

What We Can Offer:

At APM Terminals, we foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to improvement is driven by Lean principles, ensuring that every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers. Experience a diverse, multinational workplace where your operational insights directly influence how we work.

  • Exposure to a structured maintenance environment focused on equipment reliability and safety
  • Opportunities to apply continuous improvement and reliability‑centred maintenance practices
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in a complex terminal operation

Key Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising maintenance activities for Mobile Harbour Cranes (MHCs) to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient container operations. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supervise preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance of Mobile Harbour Cranes, spreaders, and auxiliary systems
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with OEM standards, statutory requirements, and terminal procedures
  • Prioritize and close defects raised from statutory inspections and examiner defect lists
  • Provide planning input on manpower, spare parts, tools, and task sequencing to minimize downtime
  • Monitor equipment performance and initiate proactive maintenance actions
  • Lead and supervise crane technicians, electricians, and mechanics, ensuring effective task allocation and handovers
  • Analyze breakdowns, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
  • Track and review maintenance KPIs including availability, MTBF, MTTR, and PM/CM ratios
  • Enforce HSE standards, including toolbox talks, risk assessments, and Lockout/Tagout procedures
  • Provide advanced technical troubleshooting support for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic crane systems
  • Coordinate with OEMs, contractors, and external service providers for complex technical interventions
  • Manage spare parts inventory, ensuring availability of critical components while optimizing stock levels
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and work orders within the CMMS
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including RCM practices, Kaizen activities, and process optimisation
  • Support alignment between maintenance, operations, safety, and planning teams

What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for a technically strong and hands‑on maintenance supervisor who can deliver reliable crane performance while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

  • Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a thoughtful improvement mindset—curious about how work gets done and motivated to make meaningful, sustainable improvements over time
  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or Mechatronics
  • 5–8 years’ experience in port equipment maintenance, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory role
  • Hands‑on experience with Mobile Harbour Cranes (e.g. Liebherr, Gottwald, Konecranes)
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical drives, motors, and crane control systems
  • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance documentation
  • Familiarity with CMMS and structured maintenance reporting
  • Strong communication, problem‑solving, and coordination skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a 24/7 port environment, including shift and emergency call‑out support
