About APM Terminals

FUNCTIONS

  • Technical maintenance. Electrical, mechanical, and structural maintenance of equipment.

  • Compliance with legal and regulatory maintenance requirements.

  • Safety management in maintenance. Supervision of safety and preventive aspects in all maintenance activities.

  • Project management and supervision:

    • Major repairs and upgrades.

    • Equipment acquisition, installation, and commissioning projects.

    • Continuous improvement and operational optimisation projects.

  • Technical management of subcontractors. Technical supervision of external maintenance companies, ensuring quality, safety, and contractual compliance.

  • Repairs and spare parts management. Coordination of electrical and mechanical repairs of components and critical spare parts.

  • Operational coordination. Collaboration with Maintenance Shift Supervisors and the Operations Planning area to ensure efficient and safe execution of work.

  • Technical documentation. Development, update, and supervision of technical documentation, including:

    • Technical specifications.

    • Work procedures.

    • Projects, technical reports, and drawings.

    • Safety and health plans and studies.

    • Machinery assembly and modification documentation.

    • Supervision of logic and control software programmes.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  • University degree related to the sector, preferably Industrial Engineering with an electrical, electronic, or mechanical specialization.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an operational M&R environment or equipment management role.

Technical Skills

  • Highly valued: Knowledge of electrical systems and control, PLCs, and automation.

  • Experience with condition‑based maintenance and diagnostic tools.

  • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and control schematics.

  • Familiarity with port safety regulations and global standards (LOTO, PTW, HSE).

  • Knowledge of industrial automation and SCADA systems.

  • Understanding of key performance indicators: availability, reliability, MTBF, etc.

  • Spanish and English, spoken and written. High proficiency required.

Leadership & Management Skills

  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in high‑pressure environments.

  • Strong teamwork capabilities.

  • Ability to make fast, data‑driven decisions based on operational risks.

  • Effective management of vendors, contractors, and technical audits.

  • Clear communication with Operations, Safety, and Management.

Analytical Skills

  • Continuous improvement mindset (Lean, Kaizen).

  • Ability to analyse failures, identify root causes (RCA), and propose sustainable solutions.

  • Use of dashboards, KPIs, and predictive analysis tools.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Collaborative work with multiple departments.

  • Ability to negotiate priorities and resources.

  • Strong service‑oriented mindset towards Operations.

Strategic Skills

  • Long‑term vision for fleet renewal, modernization, and digitalization.

  • Ability to manage CAPEX projects.

  • Focus on sustainability and energy efficiency.
