Maersk is a global leader in integrated logistics and have been industry pioneers for over a century. Through innovation and transformation we are redefining the boundaries of possibility, continuously setting new standards for efficiency, sustainability, and excellence.

We offer

At Maersk, we believe in the power of diversity, collaboration, and continuous learning and we work hard to ensure that the people in our organisation reflect and understand the customers we exist to serve.

With over 100,000 employees across 130 countries, we work together to shape the future of global trade and logistics.

Key responsibilities

The husbandry team leader is responsible for leading vessel husbandry operations and ensuring the seamless delivery of port call services for Maersk-owned and chartered vessels. The role acts as the primary point of contact for vessel masters, port authorities, and service providers, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant execution of all husbandry activities.

  • Coordinate and oversee vessel husbandry services for assigned port calls, including crew changes, medical assistance, spare parts handling, provisions, waste disposal, and regulatory clearances.

  • Serve as the main point of contact for Maersk-owned and chartered vessels, port authorities, immigration, customs, and other key stakeholders.

  • Ensure the timely and efficient execution of vessel attendance and port call activities.

  • Monitor operational performance, costs, and service delivery to support operational excellence and cost efficiency.

  • Manage and resolve operational issues, delays, and exceptions, providing timely updates to stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with local maritime regulations, company policies, safety standards, and industry best practices.

  • Support vendor management activities, including monitoring service quality and controlling operational costs.

  • Coach and guide team members on operational processes, customer service, and compliance requirements.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, customer experience, and service quality.

  • Prepare operational reports and maintain accurate documentation related to vessel calls and husbandry activities.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the team of Boarding Agents under their care.

  • Be available to work outside standard business hours when required to manage operational escalations or emergency situations.

  • Travel domestically as required to support operational activities, with travel expected approximately once per quarter.

We’re looking for

  • Around 5 years of experience in vessel husbandry, shipping agency operations, port operations, or maritime logistics.

  • Diploma or Degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

  • Sound understanding of port operations, vessel clearance processes, and maritime regulations.

  • Strong stakeholder management and customer service skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple vessel calls and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Good command of written and spoken English.

  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop a small operational team.

  • Willingness to work outside standard business hours and respond to operational escalations or emergencies when required.

  • Willingness to travel domestically on a regular basis.
