Maersk Ground Freight (MGF) offers transportation services like FTL (Full Truckload), LTL (Less Than Truckload), brokerage, cross-border trucking, groupage, and sortation hubs, connecting Maersk or Customer warehouses or depots or cross-dock/consolidation/deconsolidation facilities through a robust network led by best-in-class operations and technology. This integrated network will service multi-channels like B2B, B2C, B2B2C, e-commerce, direct to store, dropship, returns, and more, leveraging asset-based, asset-light, and non-asset models.

Summary:

Maersk Ground Freight (MGF) is seeking an experienced and transformational leader to head Pick-Up and Delivery Operations Planning across its Less-than-Truckload (LTL) and Heavy Bulky Delivery divisions. This role will be responsible for driving operational excellence, modernizing planning capabilities, and building scalable, technology-enabled planning processes across the network.

The Head of PUDO Operations Planning will lead strategic initiatives focused on route optimization, AI-enabled planning transformation, cost efficiency, service improvement, and frontline capability development. The role requires a strong operations leader with deep transportation planning expertise, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and the ability to lead large-scale change initiatives in a dynamic logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities:

PUDO Operations Planning Excellence

  • Institute and standardize best-in-class Pick-Up and Delivery Operations (PUDO) planning processes across MGF’s Less-than-Truckload (LTL) and Heavy Bulky Delivery divisions.

  • Develop scalable planning frameworks, SOPs, governance models, and operational playbooks to drive consistency and operational discipline across stations.

  • Establish network-wide planning standards focused on service reliability, productivity improvement, and operational efficiency.

  • Drive optimization of route planning, vehicle utilization, load balancing, and dispatch execution.

PUDO Modernization & Digital Transformation

  • Spearhead the end-to-end modernization of PUDO operations planning across Maersk Ground Freight.

  • Lead the evaluation, implementation, and institutionalization of AI-enabled route planning and dispatch optimization tools.

  • Partner with technology, product, operations, and external vendors to drive successful implementation and adoption of digital planning solutions.

  • Build data-driven planning capabilities leveraging analytics, automation, predictive modeling, and operational intelligence tools.

  • Ensure technology initiatives translate into measurable operational and financial outcomes.

Performance Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Own and manage the PUDO operations scorecard across MGF.

  • Define and track key operational KPIs including:

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize network costs, improve service levels, and unlock operational value.

  • Identify operational bottlenecks and lead structured problem-solving initiatives

Change Management & Capability Building

  • Lead change management initiatives associated with planning transformation and technology adoption.

  • Drive capability building and training programs for route planners, dispatchers, and station operations teams.

  • Foster a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization.

  • Support organizational readiness and user adoption during process and technology rollouts.

Operational Support & Stakeholder Management

  • Support stations in day-to-day PUDO operations management and escalations.

  • Partner closely with Regional Vice Presidents, Station leaders, Transportation operations, linehaul, customer service, engineering, and technology teams to drive operational alignment.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on operational planning strategy and network optimization opportunities.

  • Build strong cross-functional relationships to ensure effective execution of operational priorities.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Experience

  • 20+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or Pick-Up and Delivery Operations Planning, preferably within LTL, or heavy bulky delivery operations.

  • Proven leadership experience managing large-scale transportation planning operations across multi-site networks.

  • Demonstrated experience driving operational transformation and implementing route optimization or AI-enabled planning solutions.

  • Strong understanding of dispatch operations, route engineering, transportation economics, and network planning.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across operational and executive leadership teams.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities with strong data interpretation skills.

  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvement and cost optimization initiatives.

  • Strong change management and organizational transformation experience.

  • High proficiency in operational KPIs, transportation analytics, and planning systems.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed, and evolving environment.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and team development skills.

Pay Range:

$160,000 - $200,000*

*The above-stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
