The Opportunity:

We are looking for a senior finance and operations leader to head Finance, Governance and Site Services for Maersk Fleet & Procurement India. This role sits on the Mumbai leadership team and plays a critical part in ensuring strong financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, and an outstanding employee experience for one of Maersk’s key global capability hubs. This is a broad and impactful leadership role, combining financial governance, cost discipline, site administration, health & safety, and people leadership, with strong visibility to senior stakeholders locally and globally.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Leadership & Governance

  • Lead finance and accounting operations for the India legal entity, ensuring alignment with Maersk global standards and full compliance with local statutory requirements.

  • Drive strong cost control and financial discipline in line with SG&A targets and business priorities.

  • Establish and maintain a robust internal control framework and a strong compliance culture.

  • Partner closely with global and local tax teams on direct and indirect tax matters, assessments, and regulatory interactions.

Corporate & Statutory Compliance

  • Oversee Company Secretary responsibilities, ensuring high standards of corporate governance and effective management of board and statutory committee processes.

Site, Safety & Employee Experience

  • Own site administration and co‑location policies to deliver a consistent, high‑quality, and cost‑effective employee experience.

  • Lead the Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) agenda for the Mumbai campus in close collaboration with IBS HSSE teams, ensuring adherence to Maersk standards and local regulations.

  • Drive employee engagement through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, ensuring statutory compliance and alignment with Maersk values.

Strategic Partnering

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Managing Director and local Leadership Team, supporting initiatives such as legal structure optimization, SG&A management, wellbeing, and site‑level strategy.

People Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and inspire Finance, Accounting, and Administration teams through inclusive, people‑centric leadership.

  • Build strong capabilities, engagement, and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Chartered Accountant (or equivalent professional qualification).

  • 10–15 years of progressive finance experience in an international or complex organisation.

  • Proven experience leading teams and delivering results through others.

  • Strong financial, analytical, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to link strategy to execution.

  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders across geographies and functions.

  • Exposure to shared services or captive/offshore centres is an advantage, but not essential.

  • Experience with site administration, workplace services, HSSE, or CSR is beneficial.

  • Strong communication skills and professional fluency in English.
