Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the FinOps team supporting the Customs business across the Netherlands and Belgium, driving performance, engagement, and capability building.
- Ensure consistent delivery of financial operational KPIs, including timely invoicing, job closures, cost postings, and vendor payments.
- Drive end-to-end ownership of job costing accuracy across the team, ensuring all transactions are reflected correctly and invoices are raised in line with customer agreements and tariffs.
- Oversee cost and revenue integrity in Maersk systems, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain robust tracking and governance mechanisms (e.g., dashboards, trackers) to ensure visibility and control over FinOps activities and backlog.
- Act as the primary point of escalation for complex financial or operational issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal business disruption.
- Partner closely with Customs operations, product, and commercial teams to align financial processes with business needs and improve overall service delivery.
- Leverage data, reports, and dashboards to monitor performance, identify trends, and proactively drive improvements.
- Lead and implement process improvement and standardization initiatives, focusing on efficiency, automation, and enhanced stakeholder experience.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and audit requirements.
- Support strategic initiatives and transformation programs within the Customs and FinOps space.
Skills and Competencies Required
- Experience in financial operations, finance, or accounting roles, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership or team lead capacity.
- Strong understanding of customs operations, freight forwarding, or supply chain processes, with the ability to connect operations and financial impact.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop teams, driving accountability and high performance.
- Strong analytical and data-driven mindset, with experience using reporting tools and dashboards to drive decisions.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across functions and seniority levels.
- High level of ownership and ability to operate in a complex, fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and financial/operational platforms.
