APM Terminals

Role Purpose

To ensure efficient and safe execution of day to day CFS yard operations by monitoring container movements, optimizing yard space, controlling equipment operations, ensuring adherence to processes, and supporting digital transformation initiatives. The role is responsible for operational accuracy, yard discipline, stakeholder coordination, and compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Yard Operations Management

  • Monitor daily yard operations to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain proper stacking and segregation of containers to enhance visibility and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate with operations teams, documentation, planning, and security for seamless execution.

2. Efficiency & Performance Control

  • Monitor and control Truck Turnaround Time (TAT) and Reach Stacker (RS) movements for optimum utilization.
  • Track, analyze, and support achievement of yard-related KPIs.
  • Provide timely resolution for operational exceptions and customer issues.

3. Systems & Digitalization

  • Support development and implementation of Yard Management System (YMS).
  • Participate in digital transformation initiatives, automation projects, and system transition activities.
  • Ensure accurate and real-time data entry in all operational systems.

4. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure safe handling, movement, and storage of cargo and containers within the yard.
  • Conduct operational risk assessments as per the nature of activities.
  • Comply with all safety, security, and statutory guidelines.

5. Labor & Resource Management

  • Assist in allocation and supervision of labour resources for yard activities.
  • Coordinate with equipment operators, drivers, and labour teams to maintain productivity and safety.

6. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare accurate and timely MIS reports related to yard operations, container status, equipment utilization, and exceptions.
  • Maintain updated records of daily yard activities and audits.

7. Stakeholder Coordination

  • Act as a Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for internal teams such as Customer Service, Transport, Planning, Documentation for smooth operational flow.
  • Support customer requirements through timely updates and issue resolution.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Graduate / Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 1–5 years of experience in CFS/ICD/port/yard operations.
  • Basic understanding of container handling equipment and yard layouts.
  • Experience in using operational systems (e.g., YMS, TOS, ERP ,Excel ) preferred.
