We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Customs Team Lead to join our team at Maersk Customs Services. As a Customs Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading a team of customs professionals and overseeing the customs clearance process for our clients. This includes ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, managing the team’s workload, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Your role:
- Lead a team of customs professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure successful customs clearance outcomes for clients.
- Oversee the customs clearance process, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including (but not limited to) customs regulations, trade compliance, and safety and security regulations.
- Manage the team’s workload, allocating tasks and resources effectively to meet client needs and deadlines.
- Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate customs clearance, addressing any issues or concerns that may arise.
- Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity while maintaining a high level of quality and compliance.
- Provide training and coaching to team members to enhance their knowledge and skills in customs clearance and compliance.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure team performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure that all team members are aware of and adhere to Maersk Customs policies and procedures, as well as relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team culture, promoting collaboration, respect, and open communication.
Who are we looking for?
- A qualification in a relevant field such as logistics, customs, or supply chain management is an asset.
- Established experience in a customs‑related role, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership or supervisory position.
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations, trade compliance, and safety and security regulations.
- Proven track record of leading high‑performing teams and achieving successful customs clearance outcomes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on quality and compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and customs clearance software.
- Fluency in English; Dutch fluency is preferred.
