Department: Asset Management- II Asst. Manager - Warehouse
Job Level: 3 Reports to: Manager– Warehouse
Employment Type: Full- Time
Purpose
The Assistant Manager – Warehouse will be responsible for supporting the efficient and safe management of warehouse operations, inventory control, and material handling. The role involves ensuring accurate stock levels, timely material dispatch and receipt, adherence to safety norms, and supporting continuous improvement in warehouse processes. This position plays a crucial role in the overall supply chain by ensuring product availability and integrity.
Principal Accountabilities & Responsibilities
1. Warehouse Operations Management
- Oversee daily warehouse activities including receiving, storage, order fulfilment, and dispatch.
- Ensure smooth loading/unloading, material stacking, and space optimization.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with logistics and transport teams for timely dispatches and deliveries.
- Ensure inventory accuracy between on-hand stock and system data.
2. Inventory Management & Control
- Monitor and maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, physical verification, and reconciliation activities.
- Assist in the implementation of inventory control measures to minimize losses, damages, and pilferage.
- Use inventory management systems (such as IFS, SAP, Oracle, or similar) to track material movement, stock levels, and order status.
- Generate and analyse stock reports, ageing reports, and variance analysis.
- Support the planning team in ensuring spare parts availability for maintenance requirements
- Coordinate follow-up on undelivered items within the procurement department.
3. Process Improvement and Compliance
- Identify inefficiencies and support initiatives for process improvement in warehouse and inventory handling.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and statutory guidelines related to warehousing and material handling.
- Assist in drafting and implementing standard operating procedures) for key warehouse functions.
4. Team Management and Coordination
- Supervise and guide warehouse operators and support staff to meet daily operational targets.
- Coordinate with internal departments (procurement, Asset management operations, finance) to fulfil inventory and material requirements.
- Facilitate training and development of warehouse staff in SOPs, safety, and system usage.
5. Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate documentation and system entries for all warehouse activities.
- Prepare regular reports and dashboards related to stock movement, stock aging, slow/non-moving items, and key KPIs.
- Provide data-driven insights to management for inventory planning and optimization.
6. Health, Safety and Environment
- ensure that business activities and individuals, both within immediate area of responsibility and wholistically, adhere to HS&E policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions; to safeguard the environment, protect the wellbeing of individuals and minimise business risk.

- The position has both internal & external contacts where it is required to influence behaviour & acceptance. While with internal contacts this can be a shared outcome often the position may find that it is required to influence & bring about agreement in conflicting situations.

Key Requirements / Qualifications/ Skill/ Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 7+ years of proven experience in inventory control, warehouse management, or supply chain roles.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management systems (IFS, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
- Solid understanding of supply chain and logistics processes.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to coordinate across teams.
Desirable Attributes
- Certification in Inventory or Supply Chain Management (e.g., APICS, CPIM) is an added advantage.
- Experience in port, manufacturing, or large-scale warehouse environments is desirable.
- Familiarity with lean warehousing, 5S, and Kaizen practices will be considered a plus.
