At Maersk, we foster a supportive, innovative, and high-performing environment where your contribution truly makes a difference.

About the role

Are you a motivated logistics professional looking to make an impact across multiple countries? As an Area Transport Manager at Maersk, you will oversee and optimize transportation activities across Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, and Hungary. This role focuses on developing new transport pipelines, enhancing carrier networks, and coordinating cross-border and domestic transport operations to meet our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor day-to-day transportation activities across the area, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of goods.

  • Optimize route planning, vehicle utilization, and scheduling to reduce transport costs and improve service levels.

  • Collaborate closely with regional carriers and freight forwarders to maintain smooth operations in all markets.

  • Ensure compliance with national and EU transport regulations and internal company standards.

  • Support freight tenders, rate negotiations, and contract administration.

  • Analyze transportation KPIs and carrier performance to identify and implement improvements.

  • Serve as a key point of contact between the transportation function and internal stakeholders (warehousing, customer service, commercial).

  • Escalate and resolve delivery issues, delays, or disruptions while maintaining customer satisfaction.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting across all countries in the area.

Who we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Some experience in transportation coordination or logistics operations, preferably across multiple countries.

  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with TMS (Transport Management Systems) is a plus.

  • Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken). Knowledge of local languages (Czech, Hungarian, Serbian, Croatian, or Slovenian) is an advantage.

  • Ability to work independently across multiple countries and manage cross-border logistics complexity.

  • Willingness to travel occasionally across the area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a 3PL, freight forwarding, or distribution/logistics environment.

  • Knowledge of customs procedures and EU transport regulations.

  • Familiarity with digital tools for tracking, freight analysis, or carrier performance management.
