Job Description

Ledgy’s mission is to democratize ownership in startups. We create transparency for all stakeholders of a company and bring scalability to important processes for founders such as managing their stockholders, preparing financing rounds, and granting equity to all their employees.

Ledgy was founded in Switzerland in 2017 – in fact, we were the first ever Swiss company to be backed by Sequoia Capital. 🇨🇭 Today, Ledgy is a pan-European company with offices in London and Berlin as well as our HQ in Zürich.

We are proud to partner with some of the world’s leading investors. New Enterprise Associates led our $22m Series B round in 2022, with Jonathan Golden joining Sequoia’s Luciana Lixandru on our board. We are now focused on building incredible equity experiences for companies and teams, to make Europe the best place in the solar system to own equity 👩🏻‍🚀🚀

We encourage diversity and are an international team of 72 people, coming from 26 different countries and speaking 25 different languages.

We believe that startups are a main driver of positive change in the world and help create equal opportunities for everyone outside of corporate hierarchies. Humanity needs solutions for the current challenges, like climate change and the best source for this innovation are startups. We try to live by strong moral values and offer an example to other companies, while helping them be more successful with our product so they can drive the change forward.

We believe that equal opportunities for all social groups of society are necessary, and are committed to a culture where everyone feels welcome and respected. Psychological safety and a culture of modesty and openness is important to us.

We sincerely live and work by our beliefs so every hire for us is an important one. We’ve done a great job so far in building our team and our hope is that you will be able to join us.

About the Role:

As Senior DevOps Engineer you will have the opportunity to lead the way as Ledgy’s first dedicated DevOps Engineer. You will also contribute to our engineering culture of inclusivity and growth through mentoring others and continuous learning.

About you:

  • You value mentorship and collaboration: you appreciate respectful and candid feedback and enjoy sharing knowledge and mentoring others
  • You strive towards reducing complexity and operational risks but also weigh in costs (both time and money)
  • You enjoy writing clean, maintainable and well-tested code
  • You have experience with container-based and VM-based deployments in the cloud, ideally in GCP
  • You enjoy setting up and optimising CI/CD pipelines, with tools such as Github Actions and are excited about improving monitoring and observability setups
  • You have experience in migrating to and maintaining Infrastructure as Code tools, such as Terraform
  • You’re comfortable with networking, load balancing, and service discovery concepts and technologies
  • Nice-to-have: experience with MongoDB and the deployment and maintenance of NodeJS applications

About the opportunity:

  • Mentor other members of the team in DevOps technologies and best practices
  • Design, build and test new capabilities for Ledgy’s infrastructure on GCP with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
  • Optimise and expand Ledgy’s existing CI/CD pipeline to help improve developer velocity and increase reliability
  • Maintain high availability of production systems by setting up and configuring tools to monitor availability, latency, and overall system health
  • Work closely with our InfoSec team and implement security best practices
  • Gather requirements from internal developer teams and build tools to help make them more effective
  • Participate in incident response on-call rotation during working hours

The interview process:

  • CV Review: we review your resume to see if we might be a good fit
  • Getting to know you: 15 minute chat with our recruiter to talk about your experience
  • Hiring Manager interview: 30 minute chat with your future engineering manager to talk about your experience and answer your questions about the role
  • Technical interview: 90 minute interview where you will work through a DevOps-related challenge
  • Leadership interview: 45 minute chat with our Head of Product Development about your accomplishments and learnings as an engineer
  • Culture Interview: a chance to meet one of our founders for a 30 minute chat about Ledgy’s mission and values
