Manager - Energy - International Tax

Open to Flexible Working

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join our International Tax and Transaction Services (ITTS) practice as a Manager within our market-leading Energy team. You will work with a wide range of clients across the Energy sector, including traditional energy businesses, renewables, infrastructure investors and private equity-backed organisations, supporting them on complex international tax matters, cross-border transactions and transformational projects.

The Energy sector is undergoing significant change, with the energy transition creating opportunities across renewables, infrastructure, emerging technologies and traditional energy markets. As a Manager, you will play an important role in helping clients navigate these challenges, delivering high-quality advice and supporting the continued growth of our Energy practice.

Working alongside highly regarded Partners, Directors and Senior Managers, you will help manage client relationships, deliver technically strong and commercially focused advice, and support opportunities across some of the most interesting transactions and projects in the market.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support relationships with Energy sector clients, acting as a key day-to-day contact for tax, finance and wider stakeholder teams.
  • Lead the delivery of international tax and transaction advisory projects, ensuring high-quality technical output and a commercial, pragmatic approach.
  • Support Partners, Directors and Senior Managers in identifying, developing and converting new client opportunities.
  • Manage workstreams on cross-border advisory engagements, coordinating input from colleagues across service lines, sectors and jurisdictions.
  • Review and develop technical analysis, advice and deliverables across UK and international corporate tax matters.
  • Support the management of engagement economics, billing, risk processes and overall project delivery.
  • Contribute to Energy sector initiatives, business development activity and internal market-facing campaigns.
  • Build strong internal and external relationships across EY’s network to support integrated client delivery.
  • Coach, supervise and develop junior team members, helping to create an inclusive and high-performing team environment.
  • Contribute to innovation, technology adoption and continuous improvement across engagements and internal processes.

Skills and Attributes for Success

  • Strong technical knowledge across UK and international corporate tax matters.
  • Experience advising multinational businesses, investors or growth-focused organisations on international tax issues.
  • Good understanding of tax issues affecting Energy, Infrastructure, Renewables or wider energy transition businesses.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience managing multiple workstreams and deadlines.
  • A commercial mindset and the ability to apply technical knowledge to practical client situations.
  • Strong client relationship skills, with confidence engaging with tax, finance and operational stakeholders.
  • Experience working on cross-border or multi-jurisdictional advisory projects.
  • Ability to review technical work, provide clear feedback and support the development of junior colleagues.
  • Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive approach to identifying opportunities, solving problems and contributing to team growth.

To Qualify for the Role You Must Have

  • ACA / CA / ACCA / CTA qualification, Tax Inspector with full Technical Training Course, or relevant Law qualification.
  • Strong UK and international corporate tax experience gained within a professional services firm, industry or legal environment.
  • Experience advising businesses or investors on international tax matters, transactions or cross-border projects.
  • Experience managing client deliverables, project workstreams and stakeholder relationships.
  • An interest in, or experience across, the Energy sector, including traditional energy, renewables, infrastructure or wider energy transition markets.
  • Experience coaching or supervising junior members of a team.

Ideally, You’ll Also Have

  • Experience working with private equity, infrastructure investors or multinational groups.
  • Experience supporting business development activity, proposals or client targeting initiatives.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams across different jurisdictions.
  • A strong interest in market trends affecting the Energy sector and the wider international tax landscape.

What We Look For

We are looking for commercially minded tax professionals who combine strong technical capability with curiosity, collaboration and a passion for delivering excellent client service. You will enjoy working as part of a high-performing team, building trusted relationships and supporting clients through complex international tax issues in a fast-moving sector.

Successful candidates will be confident managing projects, developing junior team members and working closely with senior colleagues to deliver high-quality advice. You will be motivated by the opportunity to grow your expertise, contribute to the development of the Energy International Tax practice and build your career within a supportive and ambitious team.
