Job Description

At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence.

We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go.

Join EY and help to build a better working world.

The opportunity

In Assurance at EY, we empower you to thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment. As a key player in our assurance practice, you'll engage with diverse clients, providing critical insights that drive their success. We offer a wealth of career opportunities, from hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies to tailored professional development programs. Our culture fosters collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to excellence, ensuring that every team member feels valued and inspired to reach their full potential. Discover your future with us and be part of a team that makes a difference!

As an Audit Data Strategist in our Data & Intelligence Delivery team, you will combine analytical thinking, business understanding and emerging technologies to help provide confidence in the numbers, improve the audit experience, and provide new perspectives to stakeholders through data.

This role is ideal for people who enjoy solving complex problems, working with data and using technology to understand how organisations operate. This client-facing role combines support for a portfolio of audit engagements with designing, developing and sharing data-driven solutions. You'll work closely with audit teams and clients to understand challenges, ask better questions, build trusted relationships, shape approaches, communicate insights and influence decisions that support high-quality audits.

You will work alongside experienced Audit Data Strategists, building your audit, technology and client delivery experience while taking on increasing responsibility and gaining exposure to audit tenders.

We value the benefits of connected working, and you'll typically spend at least two days each week in an EY office or at a client site, learning from colleagues, building relationships and contributing to a collaborative team culture.

Your key responsibilities

• Support a portfolio of audit engagements, working with audit teams to understand the audit approach, significant risks and opportunities to use data and technology.

• Obtain, prepare, check and analyse data to support audit procedures and provide useful insight, working with a more experienced Audit Data Strategist as you develop.

• Work directly with audit teams and clients to agree data requirements, explain technical matters clearly, manage expectations and resolve delivery challenges.

• Coordinate work through its lifecycle, including scope, timing, dependencies, documentation, quality and delivery risks.

• Take increasing responsibility for reviewing work, coordinating delivery and supporting colleagues as your experience and confidence grow.

• Use Thrive Time and other development opportunities to learn, explore new technology, and responsibly experiment with ideas that could improve how we work.

Skills and attributes for success

What we look for

  • Strong literacy, numeracy and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to analyse information, work confidently with data and communicate conclusions clearly.
  • Audit or accounting knowledge, including an understanding of audit risks and the audit process.
  • Experience using data, technology and AI to solve problems, improve processes and generate insights, while applying appropriate judgement and protecting sensitive information.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outputs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work effectively with audit teams and clients.

Ideally, you’ll also

  • Have exposure to analytics, automation, cloud or AI technologies, with experience in tools such as Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Power BI, Microsoft Copilot, Python or SQL beneficial.
  • Have experience working with financial or operational data, or in a client-facing, customer service or project-delivery environment.

Practical exercise

Candidates progressing beyond the first interview will receive a short practical exercise. It will explore how you analyse a business problem, work with data, evaluate evidence, communicate conclusions, and use technology responsibly.

What we offer you

At EY, we’ll develop you with future-focused skills and equip you with world-class experiences. We’ll empower you in a flexible environment, and fuel you and your extraordinary talents in a diverse and inclusive culture of globally connected teams. Learn more.

We invest in your growth and wellbeing through Thrive Time and a taxable £500 annual Spend Account, giving you dedicated time and flexibility to support your learning, health and wellbeing.
