About the roleWe’re looking for a passionate, high-accountability Head of Data Insight & Analytics to join our company. Your mission is to build out and scale an excellent Data Insight & Analytics function that delivers considerable value for our customers and our business. This role requires a leader who isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and generate insights for our business & customers as part of the team.

What you'll get to do:

  • Delivery & performance:
  • - Accountable for the performance of a distributed team of Data Analysts - Use leadership and management skills to improve: 1) delivery of Insight & Analytics projects; and 2) team engagement and effectiveness - as demonstrated by substantial improvements in relevant KPIs and metrics- Multiply your impact by recruiting top-notch talent and coaching the Data Analysts- Roll up your sleeves and deliver first-rate Insight projects for our customers & business. This means being a great player-manager who role models the right skills and behaviours for the team

  • Leadership:
  • - Define what great looks like when it comes to generating insights from Currencycloud’s data- Define practices & ways of working covering Insight & Analytics so we sustainably deliver value to our customers and the business (e.g. workflows and tooling for a modern Insight & Analytics function)- Educate and influence colleagues in the function and across the business about patterns & practices in Insight & Analytics- Develop and build a new Insight & Analytics Community of Practice with power users in other functions- Represent the Insight & Analytics function internally and externally in the Fintech market- Build out and scale our Insight & Analytics function

  • Strategy:
  • - Develop the Insight & Analytics strategy for our business- Communicate and get buy-in for the Insight & Analytics strategy from across the business, particularly in Technology & Product- Translate that strategy into robust, executable plans- Collaborate closely with colleagues to execute the long-term strategy

  • Coaching & mentoring:
  • - Set and maintain a culture that strengthens our people-first, empowered, high-accountability Insight & Analytics team- Create and maintain a competencies framework for the team to help with career development- Provide first-rate coaching and mentoring to your direct reports so they become the best individual contributors they can be- Advocate for Insight & Analytics best practices within the function and across the business- Teach direct reports about Insight & Analytics best practices

What experience you need!

  • Experience:
  • - Built and run a team of at least 2-5 Data / Insight Analysts (or a team with equivalent job responsibilities covering Business Intelligence, Insights etc.)- Recruitment and retention of top Insight and Data Analyst talent- At least 1-2 years experience of direct leadership and people management- Demonstrable experience working in a “software first” and agile company

  • Skills:
  • - Insight & Analytics practices: Deep understanding and knowledge of patterns and practices, including the application of theory in different industries and organisations- Leadership & coaching: Expert at coaching and leading teams in Data Insight & Analytics- Ability to influence colleagues across the business- Delivery & performance: Expert at optimising the delivery of high value-add Insight & Analytics projects- Communication: Expert at communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders- Experience helping a start-up/scale-up mature their Insight & Analytics workflows and processes

  • Technical:
  • - Fluent in SQL and Python, particularly PySpark, scikit learn and TensorFlow- Demonstrable experience in the AWS ecosystem- Experience with applications of efficient, large-scale data analysis in a complicated system- Strong knowledge of the Tableau environment, including administration of Tableau Server/Online
