We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.
About your team:
We’re the pride of Ireland. Bord Gáis Energy have been powering the nation’s homes and businesses for almost 40 years. But now, we’re so much more than just gas and electric. Through our unique combination of household heroes and energy assets, we’re at the heart of the energy transition in Ireland, strengthening the country’s energy security and helping customers get ready for a net zero future.
About your role:
That’s why we need a brilliant Wholesale Analyst to join our Trading team and help us get to where we’re going. You’ll bring bags of energy, know-how and passion – and you’ll join a team who plays a key role in ensuring Bord Gáis Energy have robust hedging and risk management strategies in place across our integrated portfolio.
The role provides a great opportunity to understand wholesale and retail energy markets and make a significant contribution to key portfolio decisions at a time when Bord Gáis Energy is looking to grow our customer base and transform our portfolio of assets to meet net zero ambitions.
You’ll focus on the management of hedging processes for downstream customers and upstream assets and maintain segmental cost information feeding into key decisions. You’ll support measurement and reporting of performance metrics, including data preparation and analysis for the Trading division’s business planning process. You’ll get to collaborate across the business to develop robust hedging strategies, and play a key role in calculating and managing market forward curves that feed into pricing, wholesale valuations, and risk reporting.
You’ll also help shape and manage Bord Gáis Energy’s green portfolio!
Here's what we’re looking for:
- You’ll have a 3rd level qualification in finance, business, economics, or a related quantitative field
- You’ll ideally have experience of wholesale energy markets and risk management
- You enjoy collaborating with colleagues from across the business
- You’re detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- You have the ability to clearly and simply communicate complex concepts
- You have advanced Power BI and Excel skills. Proficiency in manipulation and analysing of large data sets (using Python, SQL, or similar programming language) would be an advantage
The closing date for applications is 22 November 2024.
Why should you apply?
