This is an exciting time to join as a Surveillance Analyst within Centrica Energy’s growing Surveillance function. You will be part of a team responsible for identifying potential trading anomalies, indications of market abuse and other inappropriate activity as well as ensuring adequate and appropriate framework and controls to mitigate risks across the Centrica Energy business and support the business through the growth plans.

About the Role

The role holder plays a key role within the surveillance team by supporting the team in their mission to ensure the frameworks and operating model for the Ethics and Compliance function is managed, maintained and adhered to. The key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Performing the daily review of alerts generated across trade and order surveillance as well as communication monitoring, in line with procedures across multiple commodities, jurisdictions, and business units

  • Supporting the annual and trigger-based MAR Assessment

  • Supporting with the preparation of management information on all types of Surveillance

  • Contributing towards an effective surveillance program by making recommendations for system changes and calibration improvements to better detect market manipulation

  • Support senior members of the team with investigations and activity deep dives

Location: This role will be based in our Copenhagen office. While we are a hybrid work place you will be expected to be in the office at least 3 days per week. The successful candidate must be comfortable with international travel (circa 15%).

About You

As a Surveillance Analyst you will be part of a highly skilled Ethics and Compliance team working across our locations. The ideal candidate has:

  • 3+ years’ experience gained within a compliance or surveillance function, ideally with exposure to trade surveillance and/or communications monitoring

  • Knowledge of key regulations, including MAR, REMIT, EMIR, MIFID and others

  • Ability to apply this knowledge in the detection of market abuse

  • Some knowledge and experience of working with vendor supplied monitoring and surveillance tools

  • Good communication skills

  • Demonstrate good ethics and integrity

  • Experienced user of commonly used MS Office applications i.e. Excel, Word etc

  • User of BI tools (MS PowerBI) with ability to create and analyse data sets

It would be an advantage if you have experience of energy markets and products.
