Job Description

Join us, be part of more.

We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that’s energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently – we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it and mend it.

About your team:

At Centrica Energy, our mission is to move it.

We’re energy movers by nature. We’re a global renewable energy trading company which helps move energy from source to use – powering businesses, homes, and societies as they transition to a new sustainable energy future. If the idea of working to create a sustainable energy future also moves you, we may very well be the right place for you.

This opportunity sits at the centre of a rapidly evolving renewable energy trading and optimisation landscape, where commercial strategy meets operational execution. The position holds a pivotal role in shaping how strategic ambitions are translated into tangible outcomes across our full RET&O value chain. Working cross-functionally, it enables alignment between commercial priorities, technological delivery, and organisational readiness, ensuring sustainable growth in a complex and dynamic market environment.

About the Role

This role operates within the RET&O COO function and is focused on driving end-to-end transformation across business processes, systems, and market engagement. It connects strategy with execution by ensuring initiatives are clearly structured, prioritised, and delivered effectively. Acting as a key integrator across functions and stakeholders, the role supports decision-making, investment planning, and operational excellence.

  • Partner with commercial teams to define strategy & tactics, develop complex deals, and translate market opportunities into structured change initiatives and operational readiness

  • Lead business case development, investment planning, and project structuring to deliver the RET&O transformation agenda

  • Drive prioritisation of initiatives and resource allocation across RET&O and platform programmes to ensure alignment with strategic objectives

  • Act as Product Owner for Technology teams, where required, translating business requirements into technical delivery and managing backlog prioritisation

  • Engage and collaborate with external stakeholders, as well as internal functions such as Risk, Finance, HR, Legal, and Compliance, to ensure strong governance, regulatory alignment, and effective execution

About You

The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of how commercial strategy translates into operational and technical execution within energy trading or a comparable environment. They are comfortable navigating complexity, influencing senior stakeholders, and building trusted relationships both internally and externally. A proactive and analytical mindset enables them to identify opportunities, challenge assumptions, and scope and deliver improvements that enhance performance and scalability.

  • Demonstrated experience in business transformation, strategy execution, or COO-type roles within trading, energy, or financial services

  • Strong track record in business case development, investment planning, and delivering large-scale change initiatives

  • Ability to operate effectively across Front Office, Technology, control functions, and external counterparties, balancing commercial and governance requirements

  • Experience acting as a bridge between business and technology, e.g. in Product Owner or similar roles

  • Proven ability to identify process improvements, drive efficiency initiatives, and strengthen operational controls
