The role of Business Finance Partner, UK Services focuses on providing support to the Lead Finance Partner, Centrica Business Solutions UK to create value by improving the quality of decisions and ensure that a chosen Business strategy delivers the highest financial benefit at an acceptable level of risk.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone newly qualified to work within a key business unit, building relationships and partnering with stakeholders. There is also great opportunity to progress within Centrica in this or other business units.

Location - Stockport or Windsor with flexible home working

General

  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders in CBS UK&I and across Finance
  • Partner with the UK&I business development and project construction departments to understand the key drivers of revenue, margin and financial returns, in order to be able to translate complex commercial issues into financial impacts
  • Work with the commercial modelling team in evaluating investment opportunities and ensuring the appropriate accounting and tax treatment has been applied, as well as understanding whether the financial return correlates with the level of risk associated with the opportunity
  • Support the wider UK&I finance team and business by providing robust, insight and analysis to drive improvements in financial performance
  • Produce standard monthly finance deliverables (performance packs, KPIs) to the agreed format, timeline and quality, supported by clear and focused messaging
  • Partner with the business to understand the key drivers of working capital on construction projects and lead on the modelling of future working capital requirements
  • Support risk management activities to ensure the relevant controls are in place throughout the lifecycle of a project opportunity

Plan & Monitor the Business

  • Regularly report performance against Group Annual Plan & latest forecast, supporting business review of financial and operational (value driver) variances to identify corrective actions
  • Support delivery of an accurate, efficient and transparent plan/forecast which meets finance and business stakeholder requirements

Provide Decision Support

  • Carry out non-standard / bespoke analysis to support business decision making including investment cases
  • Identify performance improvement interventions

Experience

  • Recently qualified or exam qualified accountant from a recognised body (ACA, ACCA, ICAS, CIMA)
  • Proficient in Microsoft office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI
  • Background knowledge of the UK energy sector or experience of working in construction or engineering businesses preferred, but not essential
