Job Description

About the role

The API Gateway role is essential for securely connecting systems, services, and users across the business. It protects enterprise data by enforcing security policies like authentication and rate limiting. By managing APIs efficiently, we can ensures reliable performance of digital services that customers and teams depend on. Ultimately, this helps the business stay agile, scalable, and ready for innovation.

What you’ll be doing

Oversee the API Gateway platforms.
• Collaborate with Support teams for maintenance and issue resolution.
• Support and coordinate with Support for API gateway platform-related production issues.
• Provide ad-hoc support for API-related issues.
• Design Authority : Serve as the DA (APIGW)
• Attend design calls and gather requirements.
• Support E2E designers in component-level design.
• Develop API proxies and expose them on APIGW.
• Provide test and production support for developed APIs proxies.
• Work with Test and Support for production deployments of API proxies.
• Support the proxy generator, addressing issues and improvements.
• Enable federation and assist other teams with self-serve dashboards and proxy generator walkthroughs.

• API Technology Excellence , You maintain deep expertise in API patterns and emerging technology trends.
• Improvement Focus ,You collaborate to identify how work activities across teams are related and highlight inefficiencies. You help to remove barriers and find the resources or support needed to improve processes.
• Be agile, You lead collaborative ways of working and continuous improvement. You encourage their adoption where necessary to deliver the best results for the customer.
• Can do pragmatic attitude keeping focused on delivery and able to withstand project pressures due to tight timelines and complexity.
• Understanding of governance frameworks, concept to market process, Agile methodologies, IT controls frameworks and relevant regulations
• General integration skills and a good understanding of a variety of different integration techniques & protocols.

Desirable Skills / Experience

Experience you’d be expected to have

• Degree level qualification
• 7+ years of overall experience, including 5+ years of experience in APIs and API Gateway management.
• In depth knowledge and hands on experience of one or more API Gateways like Kong, APIGEE ,etc.
• In depth knowledge of API security and API authentication mechanisms
• Experience of full API Lifecycle management
• Documentation and communication skills
• Experience of end to end troubleshooting
• Automation & CI / CD
• Microservices
• AWS
• Kubernetes
• Dynatrace
• Programming experience
