About the role

This role is accountable for delivering high quality data migration outcomes across BT’s SAP S/4HANA landscape, ensuring data accuracy, governance, and business continuity during major transformation programmes.

The individual will work closely with Finance, Supply Chain, Architecture, Service Management, and SI partners to support SAP S/4HANA and Central Finance initiatives.

What you’ll be doing

SAP S/4HANA Data Migration
• Own and execute end to end data migration activities for SAP S/4HANA programmes (ECC to S/4, Central Finance, selective carve outs).
• Define and implement data migration strategy, scope, sequencing, and cutover approach.
• Lead data extraction, transformation, loading (ETL), validation, and reconciliation activities.
• Work with SAP tools including S/4 Migration Cockpit (LTMC / Fiori), SLT, LVM, and bespoke migration utilities.
• Support mock runs, dress rehearsals, cutover execution, and post go live stabilisation.
Data Management & Quality
• Establish and enforce data quality rules, validation checks, and reconciliation controls.
• Identify legacy data defects and work with business and technical teams to resolve root causes.
• Ensure accurate mapping between legacy SAP / non SAP systems and S/4HANA data models.
• Maintain migration objects, logs, reconciliation reports, and audit evidence.
Data Governance & Control
• Apply BT data governance standards related to data ownership, stewardship, and lifecycle management.
• Ensure migrations comply with security, audit, SOX, and GDPR principles.
• Support Master Data governance processes in alignment with BT standards.
• Collaborate with architecture and governance teams to improve data resilience and reusability.
Stakeholder Management & Delivery
• Partner with Finance, Supply Chain, SAP functional teams, and System Integrators.
• Provide regular updates on migration readiness, risks, dependencies, and data quality metrics.
• Support leadership reporting and governance forums with fact based insights.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of BT migration templates, artefacts, and standards.

Essential Skills / Experience

• 3–7 years of experience in SAP data migration, data management, or transformation delivery.
• Strong hands on experience in SAP S/4HANA data migration.
• Solid understanding of SAP data domains (Master Data, Transactional Data, Finance and/or Supply Chain).
• Experience with data reconciliation, validation, and defect management.
• Knowledge of data governance principles and data quality frameworks.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.

Desirable Skills / Experience

• Experience with SAP Central Finance (CFIN).
• Exposure to SAP MDG or enterprise MDM tools.
• Working knowledge of SQL, data profiling, or ETL tooling.
• Experience operating within Agile, SAFe, or hybrid delivery models.
• SAP S/4HANA or Data Management certifications.
